OH yeah, brother!

High-impact action returns to Port Dover Lions Community Centre on Saturday, October 25, as Norfolk County Championship Wrestling hosts Clash on the Coast, the largest professional wrestling event in the county’s history. To learn more, the Maple Leaf spoke to NCCW president Adam Martin.

Mr. Martin said Clash on the Coast “features talent from around the world, including former champions in the WWE and modern-day champions in major promotions like Major League Wrestling and Total Nonstop Action.”

“Names like Jacques Rougeau and Al Snow will be familiar to casual fans from the golden age of wrestling, while names like EC3, Steve Maclin, Donovan Dijak and Jody Threat will be familiar to your modern fan,” he said.

But that’s not all: the event also showcases up-and-comers on the Ontario pro wrestling scene “who are the stars of tomorrow,” such as NCCW champion “Pretty” Ricky Willdy, Kyle “The Wavemaker” Boone, Wade “The Wanderer” Allan, and the KPK trio.

“Not to mention our incredible women’s division that features a diverse group of talent like Australia’s Kingsley and Canada’s best independent female wrestler in Alexia Nicole,” Mr. Martin added.

Clash on the Coast will have 14 matches split into two sets, called cards. The first card begins at 1 p.m. and the second starts at 7 p.m. Three championships will be up for grabs, including NCCW’s inaugural Tag Team Championship.

Mr. Martin shared that the promotion is “very excited” for the headlining match of the first card. Representing NCCW, Wade Allan, Jody Threat, and Ricky Willdy will take on Pretty Boy Smooth, Taylor Rising, and EC3 from National Wrestling Alliance, “one of the most prestigious brands in wrestling history.”

“This card also features a defense of the prestigious TNA International Championship, which we’re so grateful to get to bring to Norfolk,” he said. Steve Maclin will try to defend his TNA title against Ontario’s Shane Sabre.

In the main event of the second card, Ricky Willdy will put his NCCW belt on the line against EC3, a former WWE, NWA, and TNA champion.

NCCW has also organized a Q&A between the cards with former WWE champion Jacques “The Mountie” Rougeau from 4–5:30 p.m. Mr. Martin said the session will provide fans a “completely unique” experience.

“Where else can you ask The Mountie about his career, with no restrictions? This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for fans of the WWE’s golden age.”

At the same time, former WWE standout and current MLW Tag Team Champion Donovan Dijak will host a private pro wrestling seminar for experienced athletes.

“Local [wrestlers] and talent from Ontario can participate and learn from someone who has been on WWE television, who currently works for MLW and has been in the ring with superstars from around the world,” Mr. Martin said.

With many past and present champions from the world’s top promotions and a glut of rising regional talents slated for Clash on the Coast, plus the Q&A and seminar, Mr. Martin said the event is shaping up to be “absolutely the biggest to date” by NCCW and in Norfolk County. The scale of the show reflects NCCW’s growth since its inception.

“We couldn’t be doing this without all of the support we’ve received over the last two years of operating and hosting family-friendly events in Norfolk County,” he said.

Clash on the Coast is sponsored by Port Dover Board of Trade as an off-season economic boost to the community and supported by Norfolk County through its Amplify Norfolk program.

“The part that excites us the most is the chance to bring an experience to Norfolk County like nothing ever before. This is history in the making to bring some of the best wrestlers in the world to the territory we love,” Mr. Martin said.
