Dieter Stuermer
STUERMER, Dieter – of Port Dover, passed away at Hamilton General Hospital on July 23, 2025, in his 86th year. He was surrounded by loved ones. He slipped away peacefully with his beloved Helga and his daughter Heidi holding his hands.
Helga has been by his side for 64 years. Dieter is her beloved soulmate, and a cherished father of Heidi (David) and Andreas (Lindsay). Loving grandfather of Nichole (Mike), Victoria (Jasper), Krystina (Eric), Thomas, William, and expected great-grand-baby arriving any day. Dearly loved brother, Peter (Linda) of Connecticut. Sister Gisela (Willy) of Germany.
Brother-in-law and sister-in -law of Helmut and Gita and sister-in-law Sylvia. Predeceased by his parents Erna and William. Dieter was incredibly smart, outgoing, funny and loved to be surrounded by his family—he never missed a birthday, dance recital, graduation or major event in his family’s life. He had many interests and enjoyed travelling the world, being outdoors, spending time up North at the cottage and socializing with friends and family. Dieter was also a valued part of St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church. He worked for Stelco for 20 years before starting his own business producing computer ink cartridges. He will be sadly missed.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Dieter at visitation at THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, 102 First Ave., Port Dover, 519-583-1530, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Dieter’s life will be held at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Lynn Park Rd., Port Dover, on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 11 a.m. Father Charles Akinloye celebrant. Interment to follow at Port Dover Cemetery. For those wishing, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
