Doris Bartlett
BARTLETT, Doris Josephine (nee Heastont) passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Norfolk General Hospital in her 72nd year. Loving wife of Don, dear mother of John (Judy) of Simcoe, Cindy (Pete Misner) Bartlett of Port Dover and Donna Sherk of Hamilton. Proud grandmother of four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Doris will be sadly missed by her siblings Ralph (Janet) Heastont of Hamilton, Ron (Mary Lou) of Nanticoke, Ferg (Eleanor) of Fisherville, Dorothy Armsrong of Dunnville, Irene (Don) Steinhoff of Simcoe; sisters-in-law Norma, Fay, Debbie and Diane; also all of her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Ivan and Amy; brothers James and Wayne; granddaughter Monika, and brother-in-law Howard Armsrong. Doris loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed her work as a taxidermist. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519-583-1530). George Furry
FURRY, George Ernest. Suddenly, in the early morning of Sunday, November 8, 2015, after one last hurrah at Seneca Casino. George was a son, brother, husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and mentor. Loving husband of Darlene Furry and held a special place in the hearts of Kim Kennedy-Bourne (Joe), Bryan Kennedy (Kelly), Cori Kennedy (Ed), Thomas Kennedy (Shane), Starr Kennedy and Tracey Walker (Jeff). Cherished grandfather of Ashley Bourne (Josh), Brittany Bourne (Justin), Chantelle Crawford, Holden Kennedy and great-grandfather of Lexi Raffan. Also surviving is his sister-in-law and Casino cohort Dianna Shannon, brother Harry (Ruth) and sister Mary Lou Willis (Robert), nieces, nephews and many friends. George was predeceased by his parents Jean and Gordon Furry, son Jeff Ernst (2007), Ada Pearl Shack (2000), Bonnie Eady (2011) and brother-in-law Gary Shannon (2000). Friends met with the family on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at The Baldock Funeral Home, 96 Norfolk St., N. Simcoe. The funeral was held on Friday, November 13, 2015, 2 p.m. upstairs at the Royal Canadian Legion, 200 West St., Simcoe. Cremation followed with interment at Port Dover Cemetery at a later date. Don McCoy
McCOY, Donald Dale of Port Dover passed away suddenly on Friday, November 13, 2015 in his 60th year. Dear father of Robert (Brenda) of Simcoe and Tracy of Port Dover. Loving grandfather of Leah and Mathias. Don will be lovingly remembered by his mother Elfrieda and siblings Kelly (Genna) of Cobourg and Glenda of Hagersville. Predeceased by his wife Peggy (2009), father Glenn, brother David, sister Donna and brother-in-law Jim Peters. Don loved to play golf and enjoyed reading in his spare time. He also loved to sing and play hockey. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Don’s memory on Friday, November 20, 2015, 11 a.m. at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519-583-1530). Rev. STROUD, Marion Elizabeth (nee Gaston) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Dover Cliffs LTC in her 73rd year. Dear mother of Michael (Kim) of Brampton, Andrew (Heather), and Laura (Mark) Betts all of Port Dover. Loving grandmother of Tabitha, Tamara, James, Matthew, Wade, Logan, Dayton, Connor and Jordi. Great-grandmother of Jordan, Malykhi, Christian, Lucas, Jayde, Parker, and Sophia. Marion will be sadly missed by her brothers Wayne (Pat), Greg (Joanne), sisters-in-law Pat and Kathy and brother-in-law Bob Yearwood. Predeceased by her husband Gary; brothers David, John and Marshall; and sisters Patricia and Shirley. Marion was devout in her beliefs and active in her church. Ilene Amsler
Ilene Lucille Amsler, 81, of Muncy, and formerly of Eagles Mere, Pennsylvania and Port Dover, Ontario, died Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. Born April 17, 1934 in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late Ray William and Pauline Margargle (Smith) App. She was a 1952 graduate of Muncy High School and earned her nursing degree from the Germantown Hospital School of Nursing. Ilene worked as a nurse at various hospitals, with the most time spent in Charleston, West Virginia. She was a member of the Eagles Mere Community Church. Ilene was also a member and chapter regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Lycoming County Chapter #47, the Pennsylvania Medical Society Auxiliary (PMSA), and the past president, chair of finance and 7th district counselor of the Women’s Auxiliary to Lycoming County Medical Society. She enjoyed gardening and belonged to the Williamsport Garden Club. Ilene was a very gracious person and loved hosting get-togethers and other family functions. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Andrea Amsler, of Allentown; three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Amsler and Michael Wukitsch, of Easton, Kathryn and Mark Corrigan, of Booton Twp., NJ, and Patricia and George Becknell, of Chattanooga, TN; one brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Sue App, of Richmond, VA; one sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and John Kogel, of Sellersville; six grandchildren, Brian, Samantha, Sophie, Madeline, Nicholas and Molly; four nieces and three nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one sister, RaeOna Livingston; and one niece, Linda Knight. The family greeted friends on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Grenoble Funeral Home, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, PA. A graveside memorial service followed in Muncy Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Ilene’s memory may be made to the Daughters of the American Revolution, Lycoming County Chapter #47, PO Box 846, Williamsport, PA 17701.
