Clara May Fuller
FULLER, Clara May (nee Cline) passed away peacefully at Dover Cliffs LTC on Friday, May 20, 2016 in her 91st year. Dear friend and former wife of James Fuller, loving mother of Russell (Debbie) Whitehead, Joanne (Edward) Taylor, Dorothy (Robert) Cappe all of Port Dover and Trish (Rob) Burnett of Cheapside. Proud grandmother of Tina, Tracy, Troy, Travis, Chad, Kelly, Cindy, Carrie, Wesley, Sara, Aaron and Aiden. Also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by her sister Olive Goddard of Port Dover. Predeceased by her parents James and Dorothy, brothers Fred, Stewart and James and sisters Grace, Ruth and Betty. Clara enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. A graveside service will be held in memory of Clara on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, Simcoe. Minnie Brown
BROWN, Margaret Jane (Minnie) (nee Phibbs) passed away peacefully at Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 in her 103rd year. Mother of loving son Ross Brown (Sandy). Dear grandmother of Cheryl McDougall (Ian) and Randy Brown (Cathy). Great-grandmother of Daniel Brown (Danielle), Jennifer Brown (Tyler), Kory Brown(Sasha) and Anne McDougall (Phil). Also survived by 5 great-great-grandsons Ethan, Ben, Nicholas, Marcus and Kolton. Step-grandmother to Ryan Moore (Bonnie) and Michael Moore (Eric). Predeceased by her husband James L. Brown (1987). Minnie was the oldest of 12 and is survived by a large extended family. In keeping with Minnie’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Port Dover Legion on Sunday, May 29, 2016 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover,  (519-583-1530). FORD, Dorothy Eilene – passed away peacefully at Secord Trails Long Term Care Home, Ingersoll on Saturday, May 14, 2016 in her 78th year. Beloved daughter of the late Ernest and Ethel Ford, loved twin sister of the late Don (2015) and his wife Joan. Dear aunt of Mark (Karen) and Scott (Honour) and great-aunt to Derek, Sarah, and Ashley. Predeceased by her sister-in-law Mabel (1997). Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home Thamesford Chapel, 177 Dundas St., Thamesford where the funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Larry Edwards officiating. HUGHES, Elizabeth Docherty (Betty) – Passed away at Cedarwood Gardens while surrounded by her family on Monday, May 9, 2016 in her 91st year. Much beloved wife of the late Archie Hughes (2000). Loving mother of Carol O’Dwyer (Sean) of Port Dover and Gary Hughes (Laurie) of Hamilton. Cherished grandmother of Rory O’Dwyer (Emily), Morgan O’Dwyer, Callum Hughes (Kate) and Tyler Hughes. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and her extended family in Scotland. Betty was predeceased by her parents James and Jane Bowes and was the last of 5 siblings. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 7 – 9 p.m. at The Baldock Funeral Home, 96 Norfolk St. N., Simcoe. Brett Barrett
BARRETT, Brett Butler Harry – July 23, 1984 -May 3rd, 2016 – died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved son of Cari (nee Clapp) and Toby Barrett. Cherished brother of Shawn Ewart (Fern) and Brittany Barrett (Chris). Doting uncle to Trent and Brock Ewart. Survived by his grandfather Harry B. Barrett and his grandmother Joan Clapp (nee Cameron). Predeceased by his grandmother Helen Barrett (nee Browne), step-grandmother Joan Barrett (Wamsley) (nee Sherk) and his grandfather Dr. Ross Clapp Jr. Brett is also survived by a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. After graduating from W. Ross Macdonald, Brett resided in Brantford and worked in marketing and product demonstration; most recently for Crossmark. Brett volunteered with the blind community and was active in provincial politics. An avid video game and film enthusiast, Brett enjoyed adventure novels and treasured the companionship of his friends, family and his dog Rogan. Brett was a gentle giant to all who knew him, a pure soul, stoic and courageous. At Brett’s request, there will be a private family Celebration of Life. ELLIOTT, William ‘Bill’ (Retired Port Dover Composite School) – Passed away at the Grove Park Home, Barrie on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Alice Elliott (2014). Loved father of Carolyn Foreshew (Charles). Cherished grandfather of Carrie Sickle (Aaron) and Charlotte Weenink (Stephen). Dear great-grandfather of Elijah, Aislyn, Elliott (‘Ellie’), and Callum. JURI?, Arsen “Archie” – passed away at the Toronto General Hospital on Monday, May 2, 2016 in his 76th year. Cherished husband, beloved soulmate and dance partner of 51 years to Janina Juri? (nee Krys) of Simcoe. Loving father and grandfather of Adrian Juri? of Dubai and Tanja Juri? – Strong (Scott) of Toronto, their children Duncan and Ruby. Archie will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Dragica Biš?an and Nikola Juri? (Irena), all of Croatia and by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Archie will be sadly missed by Janina’s siblings, Emilia Byczyk (Eric), Krystyna Bednarski and Richard Byczyk (Donna). Predeceased by his parents, the late Nikola and Ljubica Juri?, and by brothers Josip and Sre?ko Juri?. Archie was a proud and dynamic man with a passion for adventure, travel, music, and family. Everyone who was touched by Archie will miss his adventurous spirit, mischievousness, generosity, big heart, humanity, and friendship. His great soul will stay with us always. LOMBARDO, Anthony James, passed away suddenly on May 6, 2016 at Norfolk General Hospital in his 71st year. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Jim and Diane Lombardo. Uncle Tony will be missed by Kimberlee, Jim and Tagan, Chris and Tina, and great-nieces/nephews, Jayden, Jamie, Paige, Sadie, Brady, Devon and Kaylee. Predeceased by his parents Steve and Kathleen. Anthony was a retired teacher and enjoyed creating floral designs. In keeping with Anthony’s wishes cremation has taken place with a private graveside service to be held at a later date. Robin’s whole life revolved around her family and grandkids that meant so much to her. Bob Saunders
SAUNDERS – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dr. J. Robert Saunders, beloved husband, father and grandfather, on April 29, 2016 in Langley, BC. Bob was born in Simcoe, Ontario to Ken and Helen Saunders. He graduated as a veterinarian from the University of Guelph in 1954 and moved west to Earl Grey, Sask. where he worked in mixed practice. It was there he met and married his wife Evelyn in 1955. He went on to receive a Master of Veterinary Public Health from the University of Toronto and PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 1965 he accepted a faculty position at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon where he served as a professor of Veterinary Microbiology until his retirement in 1993 to Langley, BC. Bob’s kindness, humility, wisdom and sense of humour made him a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and colleague. He had a profound love of animals, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Evelyn, children Steven (Kim) of Saskatoon, Roberta (Bill) of Langley, Hugh (Victoria) of Calgary, Bruce (Robert) of West Vancouver and grandchildren Heather (Chris), Bryce, Daniel, Ellise, Andrew and Morgan. He is also survived by his siblings Bill (Dorothy) of Simcoe, Marie Hewitt of Hagersville, Tom (Gretta) of Simcoe, Dave (Carolyn) of Sprucedale and many nieces, nephews and other family members. No service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a local SPCA.

Dr. Ross Clapp
CLAPP, Dr. Ross Lee Jr. (Doctor of Optometry) March 1, 1922 – April 27, 2016, died peacefully at Cedarwood Village surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband for 70 years of Joan Elaine (nee Cameron). Dearly beloved father of Cari Barrett (Toby). Loving grandfather of Shawn Ewart (Fern), Brett Barrett, Brittany Barrett (Chris), and doting great-grandfather of Trent and Brock Ewart. Survived by his brother Doug Clapp (Helen); and his sister Marion Schedwitz and Mary Osborne; his sister-in-laws Beth Lawrence and Dora Clapp. Predeceased by his parents Dr. Ross Clapp Sr. and Marjorie (nee McCall); his brother Howard Clapp; and his brother-in-laws Ken Lawrence, Stan Osborne and Bert Schedwitz. A lifelong resident of Simcoe, ON, Ross graduated from the University of Toronto School of Optometry at age 21 and continued the family practice on Norfolk Street for 46 years. Ross served 15 years on the Simcoe Hydro Commission and was a past president of the Simcoe Kinsmen Club. He was an avid fisherman, curler and golfer. At Ross’s request there will be a private family celebration of life. Family invites you to make a donation in his name to a charity of your choice.

Irene Holman
HOLMAN, Ethelyn Irene (nee Maxwell). Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at Cedarwood Village, Simcoe on Friday, April 29, 2016 in her 88th year. Daughter of the late Frank Herbert Maxwell and Jessie Luella Taylor. Much beloved wife of the late William Ferguson (Bill) Holman (1996). Dear sister of Richard (Dick) Taylor, Simcoe and many beloved nieces and nephews and the extended Maxwell and Porter families. Predeceased by brothers Bob (Robert Gordon), Ted (Edward Leighton), Al (Allen Leroy), sister Frankie Ferris (Frances Grace), brother-in-law Harry Ferris, sisters-in-law Helen Maxwell, Marion Maxwell and niece Cindy Maxwell. Born and raised in Simcoe, “Aunt Nin” lived in Tampa, Florida from 1964 until her retirement and was a beloved long-time resident of Campers Holiday in Brooksville, Florida from 1986 to 2011. Most recently she was a resident of Cedarwood Gardens and Cedarwood Village in Simcoe. Irene was a former member of Hyde Park Methodist Church, Tampa Florida, First Methodist Church in Brooksville, Florida and St. James United Church, Simcoe.   She was a lifelong member of United Methodist Women in the US and the United Church Women (UCW) in Canada. Friends were invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, May 3, 2016  from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Baldock Funeral Home, 96 Norfolk St. N., Simcoe where funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 11 a.m.  Reverend Mary Jo Patterson officiated. Marie Muth
MUTH: Jean Marie, Deaconess of The Presbyterian Church in Canada. Marie was born in Red Deer, Alberta on May 10, 1935 daughter of The late Reverend Hugh Jack and Anna Brell. Died at Port Dover on Wednesday, April 27, 2016. Marie was the wife of The Reverend Malcolm Muth. They were the parents of eight children, grandparents of ten and great-grandparents of two. Mrs. Muth was a Life Member of the Women’s Missionary Society of The Presbyterian Church in Canada, a long time member and supporter of the Canadian Bible Society and the Voice for Life. Mrs. Muth’s remains are at her late residence, the corner of Bridge and Market Streets, Port Dover. The funeral service was held be at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, 95 Lot Street, Simcoe on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. The Reverend John Cruickshank UE officiated. Beloved husband of Donna McLeod (nee Shank) of Port Dover. Loving father of Donald (late Heather) of Lynedoch, Michael (Helen) of Edmonton and Leasa McLeod (Tim Page) of Hamilton. Cherished grandfather and great-grandfather of Taryn Power (David), their daughter Shay; Tessa, Greg, Matthew, Emma and Emerson. Don will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Joan Hay (Bill) of Lion’s Head, Bette Lewin (Barry) of Chatsworth, Ruth Naylor of New Dundee, and David McLeod (Bernadette) of Lion’s Head. Donald will be lovingly remembered by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Bob Saunders
SAUNDERS, J. Robert DVM. Peacefully in hospital, Bob Saunders, age 85, of Langley, B.C, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016. Left to mourn are his dear wife, Evelyn, and his children, Steven and his wife Kim of Saskatoon, Roberta and her husband Bill Yemen of Langley, Hugh and his wife Victoria of Calgary, and Bruce of Vancouver. Six grandchildren also survive. In Ontario are Bob’s siblings: Bill and his wife Dorothy of Simcoe, Marie Hewitt (Howard d. 1994) of Hagersville, Tom and his wife Gretta of Simcoe, and David and his wife Carolyn of Sprucedale. Bob was a graduate of Simcoe District High School and the University of Guelph where he obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He began his career in Saskatchewan and became a professor at the University in Saskatoon. Upon retirement they moved to British Columbia.
