Shirley Cox

COX – Mrs. Shirley Cox of Simcoe passed away at Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Saturday, June 2, 2012 in her 77th year. A member of Walsh Baptist Church and a member of Delhi Chapter No. 226, Order of the Eastern Star. The former Shirley Anne Peters, Beloved wife of Auby Cox. Loving mother of Beverley Foster (Dave); Karen Stevens (late Marty); Susan Mailloux (Randy); Brian Cox (Lisa); Barry Cox (Connie); Angela Ogilvie (Rob); Tammy Cox (Greg Stilson) and Tim Cox (Debbie). Cherished grandmother of 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Trudy Gibson, Ottawa; Joan Holloran, Toronto and Angus Peters, Oakville. Predeceased by her sister Pauline Campbell and brothers Irving & Chuck Peters. Friends called at the Murphy Funeral Home, Delhi for visitation on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and for an Eastern Star Service at 6:45 p.m. under the auspices of Delhi Chapter No. 226, O.E.S. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Marc Bertrand officiating. A Private Family Inurnment will follow at a later date. Richard Thompson

On Monday, June 11, 2012 at Celebration of Life will be held at the Port Dover Legion from 2 to 4 p.m. for the late Richard Thompson of Port Dover who passed away February 27, 2012. All friends and family are welcome.

Anna Weaver

WEAVER – Anna Martha (nee Vokes) of Port Stanley passed away on May 31, 2012 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of Glen Weaver. Anna is survived by her loving children Sonya (Marvin) Marks of Waterford, Glenda Jones of Woodstock, James Weaver of Port Stanley, Mark (Dolores) Weaver of Port Stanley, and Ross Weaver (Laura Burden) of Port Stanley. Sadly missed by 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Also survived by siblings Victor (Joyce) Vokes of Simcoe, and Doug (Darlene) Vokes of Batchawana Bay. Predeceased by her brother Robert and his wife Betty Vokes, and two grandchildren – Jamie Weaver and Jason Marks. Anna enjoyed her career as a hairdresser working in her own salon at home, was active in the family business of Weaver Brothers Fisheries, and worked at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital – C.S.R. Unit for 18 years. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #410, and a member of Christ Church Anglican, Port Stanley. Visitation was held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., where the funeral service was held in the chapel on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Aylmer Cemetery. HENSON, Patricia (nee Worth) of Port Dover, passed away at her home, on Monday, June 4, 2012, with her loving family at her side. Beloved wife of Jim. Devoted mother and mother-in-law of Lynne Henson and Bert Hurst of Port Dover, Joan Jones of Kingston, Diane and David Tyrrell of Hamilton and Jill McConnell of Port Dover. Dearly loved sister of Barb Worth of Port Dover and Art and Barbara Worth of Ancaster. Dear aunt of Matthew. Loving grandmother of Jessie, Adrien, Phoebe, Haprielle, Beracha (Caleb), Abbey, Hannah, Levi, Kirk and Paige. Pat will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends. Pat was an active community member and volunteer. She was a member of Norfolk’s Own Needle Arts Guild, former member of the board of the Lighthouse Theatre, previous District Commissioner of Girl Guides (Burlington) and Girl Guides Cadet Leader (Port Dover). STINGO, Anthony “Chef Tony” passed away in the arms of his loving wife Mary Anne on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Toronto General Hospital. Survived by son Michael of Ft. Lauderdale. Walter Winger

WINGER, Walter D. Passed away, peacefully, on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at his late residence with his loving wife Muriel and family members by his side, after a courageous struggle, Ret. Norfolk O.P.P. General Duties Officer Walter Douglas Winger, a resident of Adams Ave., Delhi, at the age of 83. (Former dedicated employee of the N.Y. Central Railway (for eight years) and former Norfolk O.P.P. Officer (Simcoe Detachment) for twenty-eight years, Walt loved golfing with his grandsons, sons and friends). Much loved husband of sixty-three years of Muriel (Bradt) Winger, loved father of Paul Winger (Linda) and Timothy Winger, all of Port Dover; Pamela (Toby Miller) of Buna, Texas, U.S.A. Proud and loving grandfather of: Jay Winger (Gail); Christopher Winger (Cortney) and Melissa (Jared Shaw) and five great-grandchildren: Monique, Maia, Cody, Alexander Winger and Liam Shaw. Survived by a sister Bernice Heatherington, London and the late Joseph and also survived by his sisters-in-law: Juanita Smyth, Woodstock; Viola (Don Partington), Thorold; Marilyn (Harry Anderson), Tillsonburg; Leone Bradt, Aylmer and a brothers-in-law Leonard Bradt, Hamilton; John Roloson, Port Burwell and nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Harold Winger and the former Marjorie Reaume and two brothers Neil and Louis Winger. CASTLES, William of Port Dover, passed away at Norfolk General Hospital, on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 in his 84th year. Beloved husband to Helen (Powell) for 62 ½ years. Loving father and father-in-law of Jack and Diane of Simcoe, Shirley and Tony Laundrie of Port Dover, Doug of Port Dover, Bill Jr. of Simcoe and Betty and Jim Davison of Simcoe. Proud grandfather of Shane, Brooke, Dustin, Jimmy, Billy, Patricia, Shawn and great-grandfather of Michael, Kendra, Bo, Ryder, Nichole and Shelby. Dearly loved brother and brother-in-law of Bob and Shirley Castles of Simcoe, Betty McQuillan of Port Dover, Patty and Jack Davison of Mississauga, Barbara and Dave Kilpatrick of Port Dover and Victor and Marie Powell of Dunnville. Will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Bill was a long-time employee of Riddle Oil Co. He was a founding member of the 3 Hooks Club, a member of the RCL Branch #79, Simcoe, long-time member of the Reserve Army 56 Field Regiment 69th Battery, a life member of the Sgt. Mess, and a member of M.G.B.I. Club. He also was a long-time volunteer at Marburg Community Hall. FRENCH, Doris of Port Dover, passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle at Norfolk General Hospital on Thursday, June 14, 2012, in her 89th year. Doris was a very special lady and will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives she has touched. Predeceased by her beloved husband Harold and son Tom. Loving and devoted mother of Janice Carraro of Guelph, Jim of Nanticoke, and Stephanie of Mississauga. Dearly loved grandmother of Jason, Justin, Daryl, Darcey, and Gloria-Jane. Predeceased by her brother, Harvey Jones and sisters, Pearl Humphrey, Beatrice Fletcher and Hazel Kivela. Doris was a former member of the Ladies Legion Auxiliary, RCL Branch # 158, Port Dover. Predeceased by her husband Steve and her parents Aniceto and Lucilla. Cherished and loving Mother of Lloyd and his wife Sonia of Pittsburgh and Allan of Port Dover. Proud Grandmother of Everest. Adele will be lovingly remembered by the Estrabillo, Crispino and Manzanal families, Ates, Kuyas, Nieces, Nephews and many friends. She was a member of St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, Port Dover and an active member in the local Filipino Community. SKINNER, Stephanie (nee Berdan) of Port Dover, passed away at Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton on her 41st birthday, June 20, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. Much loved wife of Ronald. Devoted and proud mother of Sean and Shannon. Cherished daughter of Fern Berdan and the late Ivan (April 2012) of Tweed. Dearest sister and sister-in-law of Scott and Joanne Berdan of Omemee and Stacey Berdan and Greg Kerr of Tweed. Will be sadly missed by her nephew Clayton. Stephanie was a Child Welfare Supervisor for the Children’s Aid Society. She had a wide circle of friends and co-workers that will miss her, but will hold special memories of her loving spirit. She was an inspiration to her family for her strength and courage. WAMSLEY, Mary (nee Kingswood) of Port Dover, passed away at Norfolk General Hospital on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in her 83rd year. Predeceased by her husband Robert. Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Mike and Suzie of Port Dover, Bill of Port Dover, Rick and Lori of Brantford, Janet Wilcox of Simcoe and Laura Wamsley and Phil Hollinger of Oshawa. Proud and devoted grandmother of Adam, R.J., Zach, Kirbie, Brooke, Kelly-Lynn (Andre), Colleen (Cristian), Megan, Ashley (Jeff) and Jared, and great-grandmother of Emma and Hailey. Much loved sister and sister-in-law of Lottie Ciccoloni of Brantford, June and Fred Pegg of Belwood, Renie Wilson of Brantford, Joan, Peg and Jane. Will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her grandson Ryan, great grandson Connor, brothers Arthur, Gordon and Ronnie, sisters Margaret, Gladys and Lorraine and brothers-in-law Sam and Gord. Mary was a well-known resident of Port Dover, she worked for more than 40 years in Real Estate. She loved sports, and enjoyed bowling and curling. Mary was a loving devoted mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her large family and many friends. In keeping with Mary’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside will be held at a later date. Since it was one of Mary’s favourite days, family and friends are invited to a celebration of life gathering 224 First Ave., Port Dover on Sunday, July 1, 2012 immediately following the parade.
