ANSTEE, Randy of Port Dover, passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, January 29, 2012 in his 61st year. Dearly loved father of Wyatt Anstee of Simcoe, and Miranda Anstee and Mike Auld of Simcoe. Cherished grandpa of Alexis and Alex. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Steven Anstee of Port Dover, Linda Valley and Doug Baguley of Port Dover and Anne Marie McLees and Rob Vardy of Tillsonburg. Will be fondly remembered by Clare and daughter-in-law Jackie and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents George and Louise Anstee and son Andrew (2004). Randy worked at Ontario Hydro for more than 30 years as a Stationary Engineer. Margaret Thorburn

THORBURN, Margaret Elsie. Peacefully in St. Catharines (formerly of Hamilton) in her 89th year on Sunday, January 29, 2012. Predeceased by her parents Cameron and Gladys Thorburn (formerly of Brantford), her brother Donald S. (Eileen) Thorburn and twin brother Hugh A. (Esther) Thorburn. Beloved aunt of Marion (Craig) Waldron of Markham, Roy (Margaret Ruth), Cameron and Douglas Thorburn all of St. Catharines and Dr. Carolyn (Gary) Schuman of Bermuda. Great-aunt of Karen (Robert) Hollinger, Tanya (Michael) Robinson, Douglas (Sandra), Jessica, Ashley and Dennis (Dawn) Atkin as well as many great-great-nieces and nephews and dear friends. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Elizabeth’s Village in Hamilton, The Royal Henley Retirement Home in St. Catharines and the Emergency Room staff at the St. Catharines General Hospital for their tender and loving care they extended to Aunt Marg. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place with arrangements entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines. A Celebration of Life will be held at Westdale United Church and interment in Woodland Cemetery in the late spring. Survived by daughters Pat (Roger) in Midland, Ont., Karen Oldfield in Kirkfield, Ont., and Reisa (Stan), Victoria BC. Sisters Lil Awde (late Doug), Port Dover and Edna Anderson (late John) Winnipeg. WRIGHT, Barbara Anne (nee Peachey) of Simcoe, formerly of Port Dover, passed away with her loving family at her side at Norfolk General Hospital, on Sunday, January 29, 2012 in her 84th year. Predeceased by her husband Donald “Duke”. Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Wayne and Pamela of Collingwood, Dianne and Raymond Nicks of North Bay, Mike and Judy of Port Dover, Becky and Doug Rawcliffe of Port Dover, John and Chris of Port Dover, Susan and Jeff Stanaway of Port Dover and Katherine and David Lambert of Brantford. Devoted and proud grandmother of 18 and great-grandmother of 11. Dear sister of Betty Meacher of Barrie and Frances Cartlidge of Grimsby. Predeceased by her parents Harry and Gertrude Peachey. Barbara was born and raised in Simcoe and lived in Port Dover for many years. In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Dearly loved grandmother of Wendy (Jim), Laurie (Ric), Scott (Lyn), Shawn, Cheryl (David) and John. Proud great-grandmother of Ashley, Melissa, Clark, Rachel, Tristin, Coral, Cedar and Sidney. Predeceased by her husband Kenneth (1965), her parents Aaron and Isabel Evans, daughter-in-law Audrey and a sister and two brothers. Fern was a life-long resident of Port Dover, she worked for Waddle’s for many years, and was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church and the church choir. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. LIPSIT, Ronald Dea of Port Dover, passed Saturday, February 11, 2012, surrounded by his loving family, at Norfolk General Hospital in his 71st year. Predeceased by his wife Judy (2002). Cherished father and father-in-law of Jamie and Lorraine Lipsit of Stoney Creek and Ronalyn and Peter Meier of Niagara Falls. Loving grandfather of David, Sarah, Tara and Julia. Dearly loved son of Ina Lipsit (nee Stickney) of Townsend. Will be sadly missed by his companion Claire Lawlor. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Paul and Sharon Lipsit of Port Dover, Ernie Lipsit of Hamilton, Lynda Smiley of North Bay, Bette and John Willson of Hamilton and George Pearson of Whitefish. Fred Harris

HARRIS — Frederick Edward passed away suddenly at St. Catharines General Hospital on Monday February 13, 2012 at the age of 63 years leaving behind his loving wife of 41 years Bonnie, his dear children Jamie (Kelly) Harris and Holly (James) Holliday, his four beautiful grandchildren who were the apples of his eye, Luke, Brooke, Colby and Marlee all of Simcoe, his mother-in-law Lois Greenslade of Port Dover, his brother-in-law Paul (Suzanne) Greenslade of Port Dover, his sisters Shirley (Ronald) McQueen and Linda Harris. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and a great niece and nephew. He was predeceased by his mother Dorothy Harris, his father Edward Harris and his father-in-law James Greenslade. Fred was well known and respected in the marine and shipping industry having been employed for the past 32 years with Marsh Engineering and Allied Marine and Industrial. Fred had a real passion for the outdoors which was reflected in hunting, camping, farming and spending time leisurely cutting wood. He will be sadly missed by his beloved Labrador retriever Jasper as well. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Peacefully, surrounded by her family, Betty died at Leisure Living, Jarvis on Thursday, February 16, 2012, two days shy of her 80th birthday. Betty (nee Mummery), formerly of Nanticoke, was the loving wife of Bob Vokes (2010). She was the beloved mother of Debra and Doug Brooks of St. Catharines, Julia and Jack Stallwood of R.R. 1, Jarvis and Penny and Garrick Otterman of Fisherville. Loving grandmother and great grandmother of Damon Brooks; Kelly and Brandon Udell (Boden and Addison); Amanda and Scott Doughty (Taelor, Olivia, and Payton); Robert, Melissa, Raymond and Sarah Otterman. Sister of Elsie (the late Walter) Evans, Jean (the late Evan) Pursley, Bob (Jo) Mummery, Jim (Rhea) Mummery, the late Donna (Louie) Adams, the late Terry Mummery and Connie (Ted) Welt. Sister-in-law of Anna and Jake Weaver, Victor and Joyce Vokes and Douglas Vokes (Darlene). Betty is also survived by many nieces and nephews. SHAND, George of Port Dover, passed away at Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Sunday, February 26, 2012 in his 84th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary (1999). Dearly loved father of Georgina (Elton) Fuller and Linda (Chris) Friedrich. Proud grandfather of Jordan and Andrew Friedrich, and also remembered by Jason (Natasha) and Michael Fuller. Dear brother of Alice Krull and Doris Lindsay, and brother-in-law of Harold Farmer. Predeceased by brothers Jim and John and sister Mary. Much loved uncle to many nephews and nieces. George was a longtime employee of the American Can in Simcoe. After his retirement George enjoyed working with and collecting antique gas engines. George’s happy-go-lucky whistle and his friendly nature will be missed by his many friends who were truly special to him. In keeping with George’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
