Nancy Bartkiw
BARTKIW – Nancy Elinor (Jamieson), passed away December 14, 2013 at Greater Niagara General Hospital, Niagara Falls, ON. Survived by her husband, Alex; sons Stephan of Niagara Falls, Gregory (Jackie) of Markham and daughters, Christine of Niagara Falls and Tania (Bruce) of Thunder Bay; eight grandchildren; twin sister Barbara (Angelo) Luciani of Brantford, sister Pat Luton of Port Dover and brother Chuck (Gail) Jamieson of Port Dover; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Ford and Ella (Nunn) Jamieson, three grandchildren, nephew Scott Jamieson, brother-in-law Bob Luton as well as members of the Bartkiw family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Paterson Funeral Home, 6062 Main Street, Niagara Falls, ON. A service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held December 20, 2013 with interment in Niagara Falls. Memorial donations made payable by cheque to the Grace United Church Accessibility Fund, Port Dover, N0A 1N0, or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Hunter Dorish
DORISH, Hunter Allen of Port Dover passed away following a courageous battle against a brain tumor on December 10, 2013 at MacMaster Sick Kids Hospital. Hunter is survived by his loving mother Mandy Weaver and father Tom (Leslie) Dorish of Port Dover. Also survived by proud grandparents Barry and Theresa Weaver of Townsend and Paul and Patsy Dorish of Port Dover, aunts and uncles Jessie (Julie) of Deep River, Kaleb (Marissa) of Guelph, Keshia of B.C. and Mike (Kelli) of Walsh, as well as cousins Teryn and Kaia. Hunter was the typical boy he loved frogs, bugs, throwing things in the fire, colouring, Scooby-Doo, and Spider man. He even liked school, especially drama class. That impish smile and boyish charm will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him. Friends were invited to meet with family on Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, December 15, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave, Port Dover (519-583-1530). A service to Celebrate Hunter’s Life was held Monday, December 16, 2013 at the Jarvis Community Centre at 1 p.m. For those wishing, donations to Ronald McDonald House Hamilton, Juravinski Centre, Children’s Wish Foundation and Mac Children’s Hospital would be greatly appreciated. Jean Douglas
DOUGLAS – Jean (nee Matthews) of Port Colborne, after a valiant struggle in the cardiac intensive care unit of the Hamilton General Hospital on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the age of 84 years. Beloved wife of the late Robert Douglas (2005) and loving mother of Mary (Dr. David) Brunarski of Simcoe. Jean was born in Port Dover and was predeceased by her father, Robert (Bunny) Matthews and mother Lily. By Jean’s request there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Port Colborne Chapel of the Davidson Funeral Homes, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne.

Lucille Foley
FOLEY, Helen Lucille (nee Pankhurst) passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on December 4, 2013 at Norfolk General Hospital in her 61st year. Loving mother of April (Jeff Burroughs) of Hamilton, dear sister and sister-in-law of Neil (Peggy), Dave (Joyce), Joyce, Ruth (Blake), Barry and Barb. Honoured grandmother of Torin, Tyler and Maegan. Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Laura, brothers Fred, Archie and Perry, sisters Miriam and Jane, and brothers-in-law Stewart and Don and granddaughter Kaitlyn. Lucille loved her game of scrabble with long time friend Dorothy. She is loved and will be missed. Cremation has taken place. Friends were invited to meet with family to share memories of Lucille on Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 2 p.m. at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519-583-1530). Doris Marcellus
Marcellus, Doris (nee Kitchen). With deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother Doris Marie Marcellus, peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 2, 2013 in her 90th year. Doris is predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Alfred Marcellus and her parents Joseph William and Mary (Kadey) Kitchen of Port Dover. She is survived by daughters Ellen Fox (Brian Fox), Marilyn Marcellus and Susan Marcellus (Don Detweiler) and grandchildren Jenna and Kristina Fox and Atticus and Wheeler Saunders. Ron Bryson
BRYSON, Ronald. Peacefully at Grandview Lodge, Dunnville on Monday November 4, 2013 in his 85th year. Ron Bryson predeceased by his beloved wife Shirley Bryson. Gentle, kind and loving father to Wendy Bryson. Dear grandfather to Emily and Ben Vint. Ron will be missed by the many extremely lucky people who were granted the opportunity to know him. He was a one of a kind gentleman and he will remain forever in our hearts. Laird Mason
MASON, Laird Ian passed away peacefully after a brief illness on December 2, 2013 at Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe in his 86th year. Laird is survived by his loving daughter Cheryl Copeman, and precious grandchildren Alexis and Lee. Brother and brother-in-law to Ora (Annie) Mason of Port Dover and Muriel Birdsell of Renton. Laird is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Doris, son Michael, brothers-in-law John Murphy and Wilf Birdsell, sister-in-law Edith Murphy and son-in-law Dick Copeman. Laird was best known as the local plumber plying his trade for over 40 years in the area before handing the reigns of the business over to his son-in-law Dick. Former president of the Port Dover Lions Club and member of the I.O.O.F. for over 60 years. Laird will be remembered by all who knew him. A graveside service will be held at the Port Dover Cemetery on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 10 a.m., with all family and friends invited to attend. Reverend Frank Walker officiating. Ron McMann
McMANN, Ronald George Walter. With great sadness we announce the passing of Ronald McMann at Haldimand War Memorial Hospital on Friday, November 29, 2013 at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Yager) for 53 years. Treasured and loved father of Kelly Smith and her husband Bill both, of whom held a special place in Ron’s heart. Dear brother of Allen (Jackie) McMann and brother-in-law Gerald (Anna) Yager. Ron graduated with a BA Degree from the University of Waterloo and was a long time teacher with the Hamilton Board of Education, retiring in 1990. Ron was actively involved in Ontario Quarter Horse Association, and he was proud to be inducted into the Ontario QH Hall of Fame in 2007. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Scallan for his care and compassion to Ron and our family, and to the wonderful nurses and staff on the 2nd floor of the Dunnville Hospital. A Funeral Service was held in the Chapel at Ballard Minor Funeral Home, 315 Broad St. E., Dunnville on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow. George Sweeton
SWEETON, George Ralph. Suddenly in his sleep, at his residence, on Wednesday, November 27, 2013. George Sweeton of Long Point in his 60th year. Beloved husband of Carol (Joynes) whom he married Friday, June 26, 1981. Dear father of Christine (Jason) of Toronto and Michael and Aimee of Edmonton. George is survived by his sister Laura Sweeton of London, mother and father-in-law Patricia and Derek Joynes, brothers and sisters-in-law Simon (Danielle) Joynes, Mark (Emma) Joynes, Nicola (Dave) Campbell, and by his nephew Kevin and nieces Carla, Fiona, Sarah and Heather. George will be missed by his Bridge, Golf and Sailing friends. Relatives and friends were invited to a Memorial Service conducted on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the Jeffrey W. Glendinning Funeral Home, 36 Front St., Port Rowan at 4:30 pm. Wake took place at the family home following the service. Interment will take place later in Bayview Cemetery, Port Rowan.
