Lionel Stanford Osborne

OSBORNE, Lionel Stanford, passed away peacefully at Norfolk General Hospital Simcoe, December 16, 2012, in his 85th year. He is survived by his loving wife Mary, cherished children Leslie (John) Hoover of Port Dover, Susan (Tony) Johnston of St. Stephen, NB. and Stan also of St. Stephen NB. Proud grandfather to Jenny and  Andrew Hoover of Port Dover, Kathleen (Brandon) Hazelwood of Kincardine, Kim (Mike Connell), Kelly and Eric Johnson of St. Stephen NB. and fondly remembered by sister-in-law Shirley. Predeceased by his parents Ormond and Vera, brother John, sister Nadene and brother-in-law Tony. Stan enjoyed boating  but his real passion was golf playing as a professional and later working as the pro at the former Lakeside Golf Course now Lynn Meadows. Family and friends are invited to share their memories of Stan on Friday, December 21, 2012 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at  Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519) 583-1530. Edna Marie McMillan

McMILLAN, Edna Marie. Suddenly, on December 14th, 2012, Dr. Edna Marie McMillan of Stoney Creek passed away. Born June 14th, 1937 in Simcoe, Ontario to the parents of Fred and Kate McMillan of Port Dover. She was the wife to the late Mike Miller of Hamilton. Sister of loving brother Stan McMillan and his wife Mary Avila of London. Aunt of 17 nieces and nephews. Throughout her life she was devoted to education, after she received her Doctorate of Education from Atlanta, Georgia. She spent many years working in the gifted children’s program. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, Ontario on Tuesday, December 18, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Donald Smith

SMITH, Donald George Reford. Passed away peacefully at Norfolk General Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in his 77th year. It is also with great sadness that his beloved partner, Barb Columbus, passed away suddenly on November 30, 2012 in her 59th year. Loving father of Rick, Sarnia; Lorelie (Brian), Port Dover; Charlene, Simcoe; Dan, Simcoe; Kristen (Joe), Hagersville; Jeff, Port Dover; Dave (Shelley), Belle River. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren. Donald was a commercial fisherman for many years in Port Dover and Kingsville. He also worked at Caswell Dairy on a milk route. He enjoyed playing cards with the Port Dover Euchre League and sitting at the pier with his dog enjoying the day. In keeping with Donald’s wishes, no visitation or funeral will be held. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Tranquility Burial and Cremation Services 519-757-1654. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
