Elisabeth Sebold
SEBOLD, Elisabeth of Port Dover passed away unexpectedly Thursday February 21, 2013 at Norfolk General Hospital in her 89th year. Predeceased by her husband Hans (1999). She is survived and will be sadly missed by her loving children Christine (Douglas) Gamble and Teresa (Gary) McKenzie all of Port Dover. Cherished grandchildren Hans, Georgia, Ian, Treena (Josh) and great-grandchildren Katelyn and Logan, also survived by her twin sister Gisela Schmidt of Germany. Elisabeth enjoyed knitting and gardening and spending time with family, she will be fondly remembered by all that knew and loved her. A memorial service to celebrate Elisabeth’s life will be held at Thompson Waters Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 11a.m., Deacon John Doomernik officiating. Cremation has taken place with a private family interment being held at a later date. Carl McCrae
McCRAE, Carl Graeme – passed away peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at the age of 73. Loving husband of Bonnie (nee Porter), for over 40 years. Carl is also survived by many extended family members. Family and friends were received at the Dennis Toll Funeral Home, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Friday, February 15, 2013 from 1-3 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Sean Patton
PATTON, Sean (1946-2013) – suddenly at 66 years of age on January 30, 2013. Sean is survived by his loving wife Karen, sons John and Erin and daughters Shaena (Dan) and Tara. Mother-in-law Alice Niskala and grandchildren Ryan, Jayden, Jessica, J.J., Lauren, Sydney, Riley and Jeorgia. A straight shooter, he spoke direct and from the heart. One always knew exactly where they stood with Sean. A Celebration of Life was held at the Prince Edward Legion on Brazier and Trent at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 Winnipeg Manitoba. Bill Sherman
SHERMAN, William Gerald “Bill” of Port Dover, passed away suddenly with his loving family at his side, at Norfolk General Hospital on Friday, February 15, 2013, in his 81st year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Betty (1992). Cherished father of Mark and Dawn of Huntsville and Nancy Gibbons of Port Dover. Loving grandfather of Connor, Quinn, Graham and Maisie. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Frank and Joan of British Columbia, Connie Roberts, Gertrude and Fred Lindsay of Alberta, Barb and Doug Mummery, Lil Awde all of Port Dover, Bob and Bonnie Awde of Wellington. Will be sadly missed by son-in-law George Gibbons and his many nieces and nephews. Lovingly remembered by his companion and best friend Evelyne Waters. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Gertrude, sisters Doris Sherman, June Orvis and Audrey McRae and her husband Al, and brothers-in-law Harold Roberts and Doug Awde. Bill was owner/operator of Sherman’s Market for many years before his retirement. Since retirement, Bill spent many hours feeding and watching his feathered friends both at home and at Long Point. He was an avid gardener and spent many hours planting and pruning. He was a great history buff and loved to read. There were not many subjects that Bill was unable to carry on a conversation about. Through his life he did a lot of travelling and had many stories of his adventures. Bill will be remembered and missed by all who knew him. Friends were invited to meet with the family to share their memories of Bill on Sunday, February 17, 2013, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 pm to 9 pm at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519) 583-1530. Betty Martin
MARTIN, Betty Dorothy May, of Port Dover. Heaven needed another beautiful angel. Our mother passed Wednesday, February 6, 2013 with her family at her side in her 79th year at Norfolk General Hospital. Waiting for her at the pearly gates was her beloved husband (our father) Don whom left us in 2008. She will be terribly missed by her children Donna Epple, Dave (Cindy) Martin, Penny (Jim) Patterson, her beautiful nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, sisters Sharon Dixon, Rosemary Reeves, Minnie (George) Belomas. Waiting for her in Heaven, son Rick Martin (1988), son-in-law Richard Epple (2011), mother Minnie Dixon (2008), father Henry Dixon (1979), brother Fred (PeeWee) Dixon (2006). Our mother was a hard worker all her life. She was a volunteer organizer and canvasser for The Ontario March of Dimes, and Past President of Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch 158 Port Dover. Mom we will miss you terribly, but happy for you that you are reunited with your loved ones. BARBER, Margaret Ruth. At Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Monday, February 4, 2013, M. Ruth Barber of Port Dover formerly of Simcoe in her 93rd year. Wife of the late Bruce W. Barber (2001). Dear mother of Bryan Barber and his wife Shari of Simcoe and Carole Rennie and her husband Gordon of R.R.#3, Port Dover. Cherished grandmother of Trista (Simon), Lysa (Adam), Steven (Donna) and Megan (Steve) and great-grandmother of Gus, Mason and Elliot. Predeceased by her brother Wesley Krouse and her sister Clara Acomb. Ruth was employed by the CIBC in Simcoe for fifteen years retiring in 1978. She was a member of the same card club for over fifty years. Margaret Foster
FOSTER – Margaret Winnifred (nee: Peets). Passed away peacefully in her 93rd year at Norview Nursing Home, Simcoe, Ontario on January 29, 2013. Predeceased by her loving husband Stanley in 1988. Sadly missed by her children John (Noelle) Foster, Honey (Howie) Cornfoot and David Foster. A loving and proud Nana to her grandchildren, Terri, Scott, Rebecca, Stephanie, Jonathan, Melanie and her great-grandchildren Evan, Bennett, Liam, Seth, Cherry. Always remembered and loved by her brother Harold Peets and her many nieces and nephews. Margaret was born in Brantford and worked alongside her husband Stan for many years at Foster’s Jewellery store in Brantford and Niagara-on-the-Lake. Following Stan’s death she opened her store in Port Dover. For 17 years she enjoyed meeting the many residents and tourists who passed through her doors until she retired at the age of 88. She was an active member of Tyrell Baptist Church. We give our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the staff and volunteers at Norview and to her friend Cindy Gaetz for all their care, kindness and support. You always made her feel special. Margaret was laid to rest by her family at Farringdon Cemetery, Brantford on February 1, 2013. Donations in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Simcoe would be appreciated.
