Goldie Berg
BERG, Goldie Idella of St. Williams passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Norfolk General Hospital in her 88th year. Predeceased by her husband August. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her children Ronald (Beth) of Port Ryerse, Kenneth of Nanaimo, Donald (Tammy) of St. Williams and Patricia Roberts of Simcoe. Lovingly remembered by sister Marion Stead of Fort Erie and daughter-in-law Sue Berg of Vittoria. Also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her son Robert and brother Ross. A veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy and member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #158. Goldie loved to knit, play bingo and even do a little fishing. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. A memorial service to celebrate Goldie’s life was held at Thompson Waters Funeral Home Chapel, 102 First Ave., Port Dover on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 1 p.m. Rev. Frank Walker officiated. Delmer Misener
MISENER, Delmer Alvin Ross. 1965-2013. Passed away unexpectedly in Windsor. Predeceased by father Richard, mother Sandra, step-mother Barb, brother Randy, cousin Allan, Mom and Papa Austin and Grandma and Grandpa Misener. Survived by children Alex and Austin, step-dad Claude. Nephew of Linda and Bill, Janet, Larry and Ginger. Siblings Shelley, Rob, Tony, Cassy, Sarah and Bo. Cousins Deb, Mike, Kirk, Jill, Rick and Michelle. Uncle to Taylor, Kim, Bill, Ange, Court (Willamina), Chris, Silas, Karissa, JT and Kyleah-Jane. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Port Dover Legion.

Harold Walsh
WALSH, Harold of Brookview, Parkview Meadows in Townsend passed away peacefully April 20, 2013 at home in his 72nd year. Harold is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Mary Ann and loving children Kelly (Pumpkin) of Waterford and Dan (Joni) of Galt. Cherished grandfather of Angela (Adam), Josh and Erica (Bob). Fondly remembered by sisters Evelyn (Bill) Low and Nancy (Jim) Cooper and many loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by six brothers and sisters. Harold did beautiful woodworking and had crafted several models of old boats for the Port Dover Harbour Museum. His first priority was always family, a passion that was gratefully felt by all. Tom Stone
STONE, G. Thomas (Butch). Peacefully in his sleep, after a short courageous battle with cancer, Tom passed away at the Norfolk General Hospital on Monday, April 15, 2013, in his 60th year. Husband and best friend of Karen (Murchie). Son of the late Eleanor and Douglas Stone, brother of Kathy and father of Stephanie and Amanda. Grandfather of Jasmine and Joshua and uncle to Carol, Joanne and the late Johnny. Tom will be sorely missed by best friends Randy, Paul, Doug, Dave, Mark and others too numerous to list. The best times of Tom’s life were sharing a few pints and tall tales with his friends and co-workers. Tom was a long-time dedicated employee of R.F. Almas Construction. Friends were invited to join with the family at Cooper Funeral Home, 19 Talbot St. W, Jarvis for a Memorial Service on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 12 noon (visitation starting at 10:00 a.m.). Janis Hamilton
HAMILTON, Janis, of Port Dover, suddenly at home, on Friday, April 12, 2013 in her 65th year. Beloved wife and best friend of Jack. Loving mother of Sean (Michelle) and Derek (Lisa). Proud Nana of Aidan, Connor and Matthew. Friends called at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave. Port Dover, 519-583-1530 on Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 2 to 6 p.m. A Funeral Service to celebrate her life was held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Market and St. George Sts. on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. Father Kendall Reimer officiated. Craig Montross
MONTROSS, Craig Howard. Passed away unexpectedly at Sunnybrook Hospital on April 10, 2013 at the age of 44. Craig is predeceased by his wife Deborah (nee Robertson). He is survived by his son Andrew, parents Daniel and Barbara and her husband Sheldon Brubacher, brother Brian and his wife Jacki and their children Matthew and Grace. Craig will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his extended family and friends. He attended Port Dover Composite School, graduated from Wilfred Laurier University (Honours Business Administration) and later earned his MBA. Craig was Manager of National Accounts, Carrier Corporation. Craig lived life to the fullest. He was an active member of the Toronto Cricket Club and gave generously to his community. For 20 years, Craig has organized an annual golf tournament in support of Camp Oochigeas (a camp for children with cancer). He cherished his time cottaging on Muldrew Lake. Craig will be dearly missed. Friends were received at the Trull “North Toronto” Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 2704 Yonge St, (5 blocks south of Lawrence Ave.) on Monday, April 15th, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Funeral service was held at Christ Church Deer Park (1570 Yonge Street, Toronto, on the northwest corner of Yonge & Heath) on Tuesday, April 16th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sunnybrook Foundation, Camp Oochigeas or to a trust fund set up at TD Bank for Andrew Montross. Gord Clarke
Clarke, Gordon Ray. Promoted to Glory from Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe, on Sunday, April 7, 2013. Gord Clarke of Port Dover, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Teresa and the late Joan (2004). Dear father of Wayne (Debbie) of Simcoe and Randy (Linda) of Toronto. Loving grandfather of Justin, Lisa and Crystal. Gord will be lovingly remembered by Teresa’s family: son Donald and his wife Catherine and their daughter Avery-Rose and brother John Robinson. Gord was a life-long member of the Salvation Army having been very involved as a bandsman and songster. Gord also was an avid sailor, racing both in Toronto and Port Dover. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at The Salvation Army Simcoe Community Church, 184 Colborne St. N., Simcoe on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. (visitation one hour prior to service). Donations to the Salvation Army Simcoe Community Church would be appreciated by the family. Mary Gombkoto
GOMBKOTO, Mary Nagy (nee Janaszek) of Simcoe passed away quietly at Norfolk General Hospital Nursing Home Easter Sunday March 31, 2013. Predeceased by her first husband Paul Nagy and her second husband Vincent Gombkoto. Lovingly remembered by her daughter Helen Ventin (Carlos), grandchildren Peter Ventin (Sandie), Arima Kitagawa (Ben), Carla Shotton (Robert), Paul Nagy (Kerry) and Joseph Nagy (Patricia). Caring great-grandmother of Alexander and Sarah Ventin, George and Lucy Kitagawa, Isabel and Lucio Shotton, Danielle, Andrew, Alexandria, Madison, Jennifer and Clayton Nagy and sister-in-law Grace. Predeceased by her son Andrew Nagy and brother Joseph Janaszek. A private family service of Christian Burial was held Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. Ladislaus Roman Catholic Church Courtland, Celebrant Father Peznyak, interment at St. Ladislaus Cemetery. Darrel Harrison
HARRISON, Darrel Richard, of Drayton Street, Port Dover. Passed away Sunday, March 31st, 2013 in his 73rd year. After a long battle with Transverse Myelitis. Much loved husband and father of Barbara and Richard and brother of Joyce Waller (St. Thomas). Darrel was born in Leamington and moved to Port Dover in 1966. He worked at the American Can until he retired when the plant closed. He was a member of the Legion Br. 158. Darrel was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Annie Harrison, an infant brother Donald, his brothers Edward, Gordon and sister Marion. Darrel will be sadly missed by his friends and relatives, especially his nieces and nephews that made special trips to Port Dover just to see him. He loved them all very much. Darrel’s wishes were to have no visitation or service.


Eva Spain
SPAIN, Eva (nee Ottley) of Port Dover, passed away at her home on Saturday, April 6, 2013, surrounded by her loving family, in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of Bill, cherished and loving mother of Glenn (Marilyn) and Karen all of Port Dover. Proud grandmother of Sara (Mike), Curtis (Morgan), Brittany (Rick) and Michaela and great-grandmother of  Landon. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Robert Ottley, Ethel and Bob Willson, Sally and Russell McKnight , Leonard Smith and Kay Gamble. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents William and Ethel Ottley and mother and father in-law Maude and Alec Spain, brothers Samuel Ottley and his wife Beverley, William Ottley and sisters Helen Hazlett and her husband Roy, Betty Ottley, and Noreen Smith. Eva enjoyed playing golf in her spare time, but was a very active community member, she was a Past Noble Grand of Silver Lake Rebekah Lodge # 150, an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion #158, Norfolk General Hospital Volunteer and a member of Grace United Church. Eva will be sorely missed by Eddie and Sandy. Jim Henson
HENSON, James Edward C.P.A., C.A. of Port Dover passed away Wednesday, March 27,2013 at Norfolk General Hospital in his 81st year. Predeceased by his wife Patricia (2012). Jim is survived and will be sadly missed by his loving children Lynne Henson (Bert) of Port Dover, Joan Jones of Kingston, Diane (David) Tyrrell of Hamilton and Jill McConnell of Port Dover. Dearly loved brother of Mary Kersey of Caledonia; missed also by her children. He was more than a brother-in-law to Barb Worth of Port Dover, and Art and Barbara Worth of Ancaster and their son Matthew (Maria). Beloved “Grumps” of Jessie, Adrien, Phoebe, Haprielle, Beracha (Caleb), Abbey, Hannah, Levi, Kirk and Paige. Jim was a life member of the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants and was employed as a Chartered Accountant for over 35 years at Ontario Hydro. He was also active in the community, serving as treasurer of Port Dover Board of Trade and the United Way of Haldimand-Norfolk, and former President and board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Haldimand-Norfolk. Friends were invited to share memories of Jim with family on Saturday, March 30, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday, April 1, 2013 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave, Port Dover (519-583-1530). A service to celebrate Jim’s life was held Monday, April 1, 2013 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church (Market and St. George Sts.).  Reverend David Mulholland and Father Kendall Reimer officiating.
