Patricia Prouse
PROUSE, Patricia – of Port Dover, passed away at Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Monday, October 29, 2018 in her 88th year. Predeceased by her husband Harold. Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Debby and Ed Long of Port Dover, Peggy Vince and Mike Juhasz of St. Thomas and Greg Prouse of Norwich. Dearly loved grandmother of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her daughter Carol-Ann. Will be sadly missed by her furry friend Ginger. Pat was previous owner/operator of Mainway Store in Delhi for many years with her husband Harold. In keeping with Pat’s wishes all services are private. BUTCHART, June Marie – Passed away at the Stedman Hospice in Brantford on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. Daughter of the late Howard and Camilla Meadows. Much beloved wife of David Butchart for over 51 years. Dear mother of Rick Cudmore (Cheryl), Rob Butchart (Nancy) and the late Tom (2001) and Mark (2016). Cherished grandmother of Nicole Alexander (Joe), Sam Cudmore and great-grandmother of Kaius and Kienna. Also surviving is her sisters Joyce (Ian Runnalls), Joan (Carl Kersey), Janet (George Richards), brother John Meadows (Donalee), nieces and nephews. In keeping with the families wishes, cremation has taken place and interment in the Port Dover Cemetery Niches at a later date. Dante Crotta
CROTTA Dante “Dino” of Port Dover, passed away at Dover Cliffs LTC on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in his 71st year. Cherished husband of Melinda. Dearly loved step-father of Christine Rayner of Port Dover and James Krentz (Debbie Fettes) of Waterford. Loving grandfather of Joy, Jessica, Austin, Winston, Richard, and Kaelyn. Loving brother and brother-in-law of Mario, Eugenio (Daily), Giuseppe “Joe” (Shirley), Piergracomo (Angelina), Atilio (Mary), and Luciano (Dianne). Predeceased by his parents Francisco and Maria. Dante was born in Italy and moved to Costa Rica where he grew up. He later came to Port Dover, calling it home for 53 years. He worked for Ontario Hydro and ran a local arcade for a short time. He spoke four languages: Italian, Spanish, English, and some Chinese dialect, and translated for and made many friends with the summer workers in Norfolk. Dante was an avid fisherman and spent many hours on the Port Dover pier during the derby. He loved hockey: volunteering for Dover’s local Clippers and Sailors teams and cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs. He had been a member of the Optimist Club and gave time as a Big Brother. He was a fun loving, outgoing, generous man who enjoyed parades and Friday the 13th. Dante’s enthusiasm for life will be greatly missed. Friends were invited to meet with the family for visitation Friday, November 23, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519-583-1530). A Service to Celebrate Dante’s life was held Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home Chapel. Chaplin Heather Macpherson officiated. Interment Waterford Greenwood Cemetery. Maggie Goulden
GOULDEN, Maggie (Margaret) July 14, 1927 – November 21, 2018. Born and raised in the city of Glasgow, Scotland, Margaret D’arcy Delargy started out as a Bookkeeper and Accountant when she first met a young Royal Navy sailor by the name of Denis Goulden in Ayre. Following an acceptance of proposal at Lulworth Cove, this sophisticated city lass and smart country lad married June 28,1947 in Glasgow before heading off to Jersey, Channel Islands. In Jersey, Maggie and Den were delighted with the births of two children, Denise and Ian. Lured by the promise of Canada, Maggie and Denis set out across the ocean and settled in London, Ontario in 1954, shortly followed by all the rest of the Delargy clan from Glasgow. A 1960s move to Brantford and the arrival of three more children, Lorraine, Anne, and Bev, clinched the deal. In Brantford, Maggie settled into the lively life of little theatre acting and singing. The Goulden household held many a party for many an exuberant bunch of aspiring actors and other characters. During those vibrant years, Maggie also holiday traveled much of the world with Den. All over Europe, Morocco, and even the USSR as it was known then. The latter was a trip well remembered. It was during the Brantford years that Maggie decided she wanted to teach, and she was most proud of achieving her degree from the University of Western Ontario while a mother of five children. She went on to become quite a popular English teacher – her love of literature and exuberant manner inspired many a young mind. A move to Sarnia in the 1970s and another in the 80s to Vancouver with a final move back to London in the 90s left many fond memories for Maggie. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in Dorset, England with Lord Digby hosting. Interspersed between the parties and events, there were strolls in the forests of Ontario and British Columbia, and great sailing adventures exploring Burrard Inlet, Horseshoe Bay, and the Strait of Georgia out there in the lotus land of Vancouver, British Columbia. Intelligent, beautiful, vivacious, and with a voice made for singing to the heavens, Maggie is remembered forever as a young Pearl to those who knew her when she was young. She lived a long, remarkable, and full life. She is fondly loved and missed by her brother Gerry, her daughters Denise, Lorraine, and Anne (Steve Harold); her grandchildren Josh, Michael, Katie, Dylan and Colton; and her nieces and nephews Brian, Rob, Steve, Mike, Shona, Chris, Darcy, Jim Jr. and Barb. Predeceased by her beloved husband Denis Goulden, her loving brother Jim and sisters Josephine (Joe) and Sheila, and dearly missed son Ian and and daughter Bev (Dwight McLeod). PLASTOW, Shirley (nee Wiley) passed from this world to the next on Sunday, November 25, 2018 in her 68th year. Forever loving her, her soul mate Maurice Plastow. Proud daughter Holly (Shawn) Balcomb. Fortunate grandchildren Shelby and Dylan. A large and well bred extended family, as well as friends and online community. Shirley’s wit and humour will be dearly missed as well as her counsel and comfort. The family asks that trees or flowers be planted in her honour as that is what Shirley loved most. ROXBURGH, John “Jay” passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 17, 2018 while on vacation in Mexico in his 66th year. Loving husband of Audrey, dear father of John (Natasha) of Niagara Falls and Doug (Rachel) of Edmonton. Cherished son of John and his wife Erica and June Miller. Sadly missed by his sisters Cindy (Don) McInally of Simcoe, Jacque (Steve) Newton of Woodstock and Vera (Mike) Crossley of Hannon. Lovingly cared for by six grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters-in-law Joe (Becky) Blake of Kitchener, Dennis (Minda) Blake of Port Dover, Dan (Maureen) Blake of Winnipeg, Paul (Cindy) Blake of Oakville, Kathleen (Dave) Musselman of Glen Meyer and Dave (Margaret) James of Simcoe. Predeceased by his first wife Victoria and stepfather Robert Miller. Jay was a former Kinsmen member in Simcoe and was involved with minor hockey in Port Dover and Simcoe.
