James Godfrey
GODFREY, James Morrison Knox – Passed away after a short illness at the Woodstock Hospital, on Friday, November 24th, 2017 in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Jean (nee Brooks) Godfrey. Loving father of Richard James (Sharon), Paul Douglas (Lisa), Kevin George (Robin), and Mark Andrew (Brenda). Cherished grandfather of 7 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. Proud great grandfather of many and 2 great great granddaughters. Dear brother to Margaret Joan (Wayne) Kidd. Predeceased by his first wife, Audrey Marie Godfrey. Celebration of Life service will be held at the Woodhouse United Church, 2164 Hwy. 24 S., Port Dover/Simcoe on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Cremation has taken place. If desired, memorial contributions to the Ontario Heart and Stroke or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004). Jane Brown
BROWN, Jane (nee Goold) – passed away peacefully in her home in Caledonia with her family by her side, on November 15, 2017, at the age of 72. She will be sadly missed by her husband Barry, and her daughters Lindsay Cullum (Mark), Ainsley Hatanaka (Derek) and Sara Fridulin (Rick), as well as her six grandchildren: Sean, Rachel, Kaede, Kai, Laura and Erin. Jane was born in Toronto, and lived in many Canadian cities while growing up. She married Barry in 1971, and they started building a family. Jane and Barry lived in many communities in Ontario, and finally settled in Port Dover in 1993. They started their retirement there, joining the lively RV and boating communities. The family would like to thank the dedicated and caring professionals who have supported Jane and Barry in the last few years. Jane will be deeply missed by her many friends and extended family. Family and friends are invited to join us for Jane’s Celebration of Life at the Port Dover Yacht Club on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. A private interment will take place in the Spring. HATCH, John “Cecil” of Simcoe passed away at home on Saturday, November 11, 2017 in his 88th year. Predeceased by his parents John and Bessie. Best friend of Mavis Cates and her family for 53 years. Cecil is from Nova Scotia and will be missed by his many relatives there. COSSAR, David James – It is with heavy hearts we say goodbye to the foundation of our family, our rock, our constant source of laughter, support and love. After a long fight David, in his 58th year, peacefully left this world surrounded by his family. Loving husband of 35 years to Gail; father of Kristi (Robert) Bonitatibus, Kelly (Greg) Paulmert; cherished Papa to Maddison, James and his fur grandbabies Willis, Dexter, Hank, Gibson and his kitty Billie Jean. He leaves behind his mother Rosemary (late Jim) Cossar and mother-in-law Mary (late Robert) Biddle. Brother to Judy (Marvin) Chambers, Deborah (Raymond) Elias, Sandy (Colby) Miller, Cindy (Rob) Jones; brother-in-law to Bob (Chris) Biddle, Allan Biddle, Bill Biddle, Barbara (Daryle) Delofosse, Wendy Smuck, Pat (Charlie) Jude, Tracy (Blair) DeBeau and Ken (Rosanna). He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Maurie Danko
DANKO, Maurie — passed away peacefully at the age of 55 on November 1, 2017 in Oshawa. He is survived by the love of his life, Julie Buck, and their two sons, Jonas and Jackson Danko. Beloved son of the late Maurice (Junior) Danko and the late Joyce Danko. Brother to Lori Danko and Sue Gangell and Uncle to Katie Gangell. Beloved nephew to Brenda and Danny Kennedy. Maurie will be lovingly remembered by all in the Buck Family. He loved Julie, Coldplay, chocolate, writing code and most of all being a Dad. Jonas and Jackson were his best work ever. We loved him crazy and will miss him forever. In respect of his wishes, there will be no service. A private interment will take place at a later date. Sadly missed by his brothers Harry of Welland and Michael and John of Cambridge. Predeceased by parents George and Mary, sister Joan and sister-in-law Mary. Cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service was held in Don’s memory on Saturday November 4, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Port Dover Cemetery. Rev. Sheena Marini officiated. O’REILLY, Gene Wesley – Peacefully passed away surrounded by his family in Waterford at the age of 80. Beloved husband of the late Viola (Paton). Loving father of Ricci (and Eun Hee), Terrilynne (and Bill) Takacs, Robynne (and Garrett) Forrest. Very proud Pupa of Natasha (and Kevin), Trista-Anne (and Ross), Broc (and Rachel), Laci. Gene will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and family. Gene was a Correctional Supervisor for many years at Sprucedale, a Boy Scout Leader, and a Judo Instructor. Friends were received at the Waterford United Church on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 5:30 until service time at 6:30 p.m. Rev. Mary Jo Patterson and Rev. Jeff Smith officiated. ROGERS, Herbert Lewis of Port Dover passed away in Burlington on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in his 90th year. Predeceased by his wife Martha (2011). Dearly loved father and father-in-law of James Rogers and his wife Susan of Burlington, Linda Rogers of Jarvis and Joanne Scherer and her husband Grant of Paris. Proud grandfather of his beloved grandchildren. Herb was a longtime member of the Port Dover Lions Club. He was very active and dedicated to many Lions projects and events. He was also a longtime member of St. Paul’s Church, previously serving as Warden. Arrangements have been entrusted to Thompson Waters Funeral Home, (519-583-1530). A Service to Celebrate Herb’s life will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church (Market and St. George Streets) on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 2 p.m., followed by a Lions Service.
