Alma Elton

ELTON (nee Crosbie) Alma – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful wife, friend, mother, grandmother, great grandmother. Peacefully with her family at her side August 28, 2006 in her 74th year. Survived by her husband of 56 years, Douglas Richard Elton. Together again with grandson Dougie. Loving mother of Doug and Gloria Elton, Debra Farbas and Greg Oszast, Lynda and Mike Shewchyk, Danny and Robin Elton, Irene and Jim Ashmore, Karen Croft and Jeff Fletcher. Loving grandmother to Joan, David and wife Lisa, Dana and husband Darren, Russell, Zachary, Justin, Jenny, Kyle, Danielle, Eric, Nash and Thomas. Loving great grandmother of Zachary, Christopher, Emma and Rachael. Step great grandmother of Brandon, Cody and Tianna. Special thanks to Dr. P. Wong, Dr. Cividino, nurses and staff at Norfolk General Hospital and home care providers, with special thanks to Barb. Alma has requested cremation with no formal funeral. A family “Celebration of Life” will be held at the family residence on August 31, 2006 between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., 215 St. Andrew St., Apt. 202, Port Dover. Isaac Stevenson Lipohar

Isaac Stevenson Lipohar, 21, of Pittsburgh passed away Friday morning, August 25, 2006, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. Isaac was born March 4, 1985 in St. Thomas, Ontario. He is survived by his mother and father Steve and Sue Lipohar (Ligonier, Pennsylvania) and grandparents Ron and Kathy Healey (Jamestown, New York) and Monica Healey (Welland). Beloved nephew of Sue, Chris, Mick, Peter (and Jodi), Anita, Kevin (and Lori), and Rhonda (and Perry); and cousins Rose, Jake, Amber, Nicholas, Logan, Hannah, Olivia, Devon, Mya and Abinae. Isaac graduated from ICM Business College as a Network Engineer in 2005 and was employed by Pittsburgh POS. Isaac possessed a quiet confidence and an incredible zest for life that included snowboarding, driving his Honda and spending time with friends and family. An amazing source of light, laughter and joy, Isaac will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched during his brief time here on Earth. “If today our world seems just a touch darker than before, it is only in comparison to the heavens, which shine bright with the light of a new star.” A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday Sept. 2, 2006, in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 77 Division St., Welland, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Toronto Hospital for Sick Children or Ontario Brain Injury Association.

Michael Needham

NEEDHAM, Michael “Mike” of Port Dover, suddenly at Turkey Point on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 in his 54th year. Predeceased by his wife Valerie (2002). Dearly loved father of Crystal Needham and her partner Glenn Sumner. Loved brother and brother-in-law of John and Mary Needham, Amber Needham and her husband Mike Rousseau. Will be sadly missed by his companion Kathy Martin. Predeceased by his parents Roy and Irene and his Nan, Gladys Wilcox. His faithful dog Sadie will miss his friendship and attention. Mike will always be remembered by his family of Boilermakers from many parts of Canada, especially Local 128. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and will be missed October 13th, but will be here in spirit. In keeping with Mike’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends were invited to meet with the family on Saturday, August 19, 2006, 1-3 p.m. at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519-583-1530). RYERSE, Carol Yvonne. Peacefully, at Norfolk General Hospital, on Sunday, August 20, 2006 in her 65th year. Dear mother of Richard, Scott, James Barker (Sherry), Yvonne Follington (Larry), Carla Mahoney (Ron), and Laurie Ann Morrell (Steve). Lovingly remembered by her 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. Carol will be missed by her brothers Jim (Irene) and Clarence (Rose) Follington, sisters Katherine Schumacher, Lois Russell, Bertha Lindsay, and Bernice Sinden (Bill). Predeceased by her parents and one brother and four sisters. ANDERSON, Gail Rickey (nee Coates) – after a courageous battle following a liver transplant at the London Health Science Centre – University Campus on Thursday, August 10th, 2006 in her 62nd year. Beloved wife and best friend of 41+ years to Wayne Anderson of Port Dover. Loving mother and grandmother of Lynn Stanley and her husband Bob of Simcoe, their children Breanna and Calvin; and Michelle Edge and her husband Jeff of Welland, their children Avery and Jackson. Gail will be sadly missed by her sister Sharon Young and her husband Rick of Simcoe and her brother Randy Coates and his wife Nancy of Renton as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Predeceased by her parents, the late Wray Coates (1992) and the former Ferne Crane (2000). CATER, Emma (Lenore) at Cedarwood Village Nursing Home on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 in her 96th year. Lenore Cater beloved wife of the late Cyril (Pete). Loving mother of Helen Ness and Winnifred Hillier. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Sharon, Michael, Sandra, Wayne, Rick and Wendy, her six great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Predeceased by her sister Iva. Lenore was a former member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Dundas and a long time employee of the T. Eaton Company. DOLSON, George Albert (aka “East Coast George”) of Port Dover at Norfolk General Hospital on Monday, July 31, 2006 in his 70th year. Beloved companion of Marie McMillan. Loving father of Robert and his wife Kathy, Brett and his wife Maria, Tracy and special friend Steve, Jody and his wife Sabrina and Jackie and special friend Pat. Cherished grandfather of Aimee, Hannah, Amanda, Jennifer, Adam, Victor, Alex, Daniel, Blaine, Kaylin, Gavin and Brandon. Dear brother of Don and his wife Alberta of Glencoe, Eileen Stribbell and her husband Len of Keswick and Jean McElhinney and her husband Don of Orangeville. Predeceased by his son Richard. George was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #158, Port Dover. He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved the lake, and spent many hours fishing and hunting. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Loving father and father-in-law of Laurent, Angela and Darlene all of Quebec, Michael and Deidra and Lisa of Cambridge, Mark Cline of British Columbia, Wayne Dosser and Gunner and Julie Dosser of Port Dover. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Helen Goddard and Bill Zeto of Simcoe, Edith McKittrick of Fort St. John, British Columbia and Andre and Monique Goddard of Simcoe. Much loved grandfather of numerous grandchildren and one great grandchild. Larry was a member of the Teamsters Union for more than 49 years. Deacon Don McCullough officiated. Cremation followed. Harold Robert Pritchard Harold Robert Pritchard, formerly of Port Dover, in his 83rd year in Deerfield Beach, Florida. He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen (nee MacDonald), his two sons, Robbie and David, their wives and six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Harold will be sorely missed by his brother Jim (Carole) in North Bay, sister Mary (Al Brown), and brother-in -law Bob Moffat in Brantford. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Lillie and sister, Dorothy Moffat. Harold had many fond memories of Port Dover — friends, sailing, Summer Garden, etc. A memorial service is to be held at a later date in Deerfield Beach.

FORDE, Isaiah Markus Radner. It is with profound sadness that Mark, Tanya and Trelawny announce the passing of their son and brother, Isaiah on July 26, 2006 in the arms of his Mommy and Daddy. Even though his presence was only with us for two short days, his amazing spirit will live on in us forever. Isaiah is also survived by his Oma and Opa Eaton, many aunts, uncles, cousins, his large extended family, his godmother Zuzanna Godal and so many friends. Eldest daughter of Earl and Jane McConachie of Hagersville; Granddaughter of Margaret McConachie of Caledonia; Loving and compassionate sister to Jim and Liz McConachie of Holland Centre; “Bestest Bud” to Marty and Terry Dosser of Jarvis; Mark McConachie of British Columbia. Her Special Rays of Sunlight or Seven Wonders of the World, Barb leaves happy and precious memories of times spent with her nieces and nephews (her kids): Jack and Many Dosser of Jarvis; Josh Dosser and Jenna Atkinson of Port Dover; Coley Dosser and Ryan Lewis of Binbrook; Laura and Beta Montemayor of St. George; Erica McConachie and Phil Moore of Chatsworth; Aaron McConachie and Tara Smith of Oakville and Hamilton and Megan McConachie of Vancouver B.C. Never wanting to say “good-bye” to her animal family Barb leaves her devoted and protective Golden Retriever Saydie and her two cats Little Guy and Ringo. Barb/Brad loved a wide variety of music; loved to write poems; loved cooking and gardening; lived to watch the birds and wild animals or anything related to nature. Barb has been a long standing supporter of the World Wildlife Federation and Canadian Geographic Society. They are her charities of choice for donations in her memory along with the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Barb/Brad followed her childhood dreams and went back to school in 1981 to 1984 and graduated as a Registered Nurse in April 1984. Working in Visiting Nursing and then in long term care facilities since 1987. Prior to that Barb/Brad enjoyed working as a waitress at the Erie Beach Hotel in Port Dover where she met some of the best friends a person could wish to have in their life. The family honoured her life with visitation at the Hyde & Mott Chapel of RHB Anderson Funeral Homes Ltd., Hagersville on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service was held at the Hagersville United Church on Monday, July 10, 2006 at 11 a.m. Cremation followed with Interment at Port Dover Cemetery facing the lake at a later date.

O’NEILL, Ronald of Simcoe at Norfolk General Hospital on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 in his 60th year. Beloved husband of Nancy. Cherished father of Steven, Amanda, Kim Deak and her husband Todd all of Simcoe and Darren of London. Much loved grandfather of Megan and Kayla. Ron, now retired, was a long time (33 years) employee of the Ministry of Transportation and also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #158 Port Dover. He will be sadly missed but always remembered by his family and friends. Much loved grandfather of Kaitlyn, Kenndall, Slade, Clayton and Elwood. Tom was a long time resident of Port Dover, he was a retired firefigher and a long time former employee of Norfolk Power. PROUSE, Wilbert “Harold” of Port Dover on Thursday, June 29, 2006 at Norfolk General Hospital in his 84th year. Beloved husband of 33 years of Patricia. Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Gregory and Wendy of Norwich, Stephen of Brantford, Karen and William Sargent of British Columbia, Carol Ann Prouse of British Columbia, Debra and Ed Long of Port Dover and Peggy Vince of Tillsonburg. Will be sadly missed by his thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Predeceased by his first wife Ruby (Critcher), brothers Kenneth and Robert, sisters Marjorie, Dorothy and Evelyn. Mr Prouse was a proud 60 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #158 Port Dover, a Veteran of WWII serving in the Calgary Tank Corps and a life member of the Tillsonburg Shrine Club. Freda Pursley

PURSLEY, Freda (Evans). Known as ‘Gram’ to many. Freda passed away peacefully at Brantford General Hospital on Saturday, July 1st, 2006, in her 91st year. Loving mother to Betty Long (Marvin) and Viola Tyrrell (Desmond). Also loved by 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was ‘Gram’ to Rob (Michelle), Kim (Paul), Jamie, Debbie and Becky (Dave) and Grama to Larry, Brian (Kim), Judy (Chris), Cathy (Steve), Janet (Chris), Scott (Linda) and Paul. Freda was formerly from Port Dover and predeceased by daughter, Pauline 1960; husband James 1969; sons Wray (Joyce) 1996 and Douglas (Joan) 2002 and brother Gordon 2002. Freda worked in Port Dover at Evah Johnson Nursing Home and on the staff of the John Noble Home for over 20 years. She cared privately for many family members and for friends. Mother taught us to be strong, courageous and to display compassion for others. She maintained her dignity and kept her sense of humour until the end. She was a member of the Lions Park Seniors, the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed her home the last 5 years at Amber Lea, participating in all their activities and crowned ‘The Queen’. She attended Balfour United Church and the U.C.L.W. and also attended Farringdon Church. She enjoyed travelling with her family and friends before and after her retirement. Many thanks to Dr. Manning for his caring interest in Gram and the staff at Amber Lea and the staff and nursing staff at Brantford General Hospital 7th floor. Thank you to all. Squizzato, Patricia Ann. At her residence in Renton, after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer and surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at the age of 48. Adored wife and companion for 28 years of Mark. Proud mother and grandmother of Chad and Sara Squizzato and children Amaya and Caiden and Kimberly and Jason Ouwendyk and baby boy Ouwendyk. Dear daughter of Aurore Seguin and the late Rosaire (2002). Amazing sister of Jacques and Emily Sequin, Denise and Jack Wilson, Louise and Jim Weir, Annette and Jim Dean, Armand and Allison Seguin. Pat is also survived by Mark’s parents Betty and John Squizzato and siblings John and Nancy Squizzato, Connie and Jim Dewdney, Kathy Squizzato and Ray Segat as well as many loved nieces and nephews. The family is very appreciative to the Care Plus workers and the staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre during Pat’s illness. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren; Jack (Joanne) and Michael Donovan, Alison and Jason (Cindy) Aldgate, Chris, Laura and Amanda Layden, Dawn (Boyd) Reise-Ward and Carly Reise. Cherished Great Grandma of Dade. Dorothy resided at the Riviera Retirement Lodge in Caledonia since October 1999. Special thanks to the nurses and all the staff for her wonderful care and for sharing her final years so lovingly. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, June 9, 2006 at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Miller Funeral Chapel in Caledonia. Lovingly remembered by his five grandchildren Michael, Sharlene (James), Rejean (Adrienne), Ryan and Robyn; his brothers Max and Clare and sisters Gweneath Thar and Nancy Byrne. Jack was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, St. Paul’s BAC, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 79 Simcoe and the EAA Chapters in Stoney Creek and Brantford. Beloved wife of the late Walter Budweth. Hilda will be sadly missed by her daughter Louisa Helander of 292 Borden St., Toronto M5S 2N6 and grandson Michael Helander. Jean Crosbie

CROSBIE (Williamson) (Smallacombe) (nee Rea), Jean. Sadly, we announce the passing of our loving mother Jean Crosbie on Friday, May 5, 2006. Jean was born September 3, 1914 in Calgary, Alberta. She attended The University of Manitoba (Wellesley College) in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she completed her B.A. degree. While in Winnipeg she met and married our father Thomas Gordon Smallacombe. Jean and Gordon moved from Winnipeg to “The Ridge” in Mississauga, Ontario where they raised their four children. Following Gordon’s passing Jean married Dr. A. E. (Andy) Williamson and the family relocated to Port Dover, Ontario. Although Jean and Andy shared just a few short years, these years were filled with love and happy times, especially the days at the family cottage on Stoney Lake. Jean enjoyed her career at The Children’s Aid Society of Norfolk County where she worked for many years helping families who wanted to adopt a child. Following her retirement and at the young age of seventy, she married a former co-worker, Arthur Crosbie and they shared ten wonderful years. In December 1997, Jean returned to Calgary to be close to her family during her senior years. Jean is survived by her son Jerry Smallacombe (Nellie), Stoney Creek, Ontario, daughter Cheryl Palliser (Brian) of Christchurch, New Zealand, daughter Diane Sweet (Douglas), Calgary, Alberta, and Will Smallacombe (Lynn), St. Albert, Alberta. She is also survived by her step-son David Williamson (Lynn), Ancaster, Ontario, and two step-daughters Ann Adams and Judith Crosbie, both of Toronto. Jean was predeceased by her husbands Gordon Smallacombe, Andrew Williamson and Arthur Crosbie. She was also predeceased by her loving and devoted mother Hilda Rea and her father Arnold Rea. On Friday, June 2, 2006, Jean will be laid to rest alongside her first husband at a private interment service in St. Catharines, Ontario, at 2 p.m. Messages of condolence may be sent via e-mail patpfs.@telusplanet.net. “Rest in Peace Beautiful Mother” With All Our Love, Your Children: Jerry, Cheryl, Diane and Will.
