Pop-up block party on Harbour Street welcomes back residents & visitors
ROAD work on the Harbour Street reconstruction project is complete. To celebrate this milestone, residents and visitors are invited to enjoy free, family-friendly activities throughout the day at a pop-up block party on Saturday, August 23.
Beginning at 10 a.m., Port Dover Harbour Museum is offering a special children’s activity and hosting a book sale.
From 1:00 until 3:00 p.m., Norfolk Juice Co. has live music on its patio, beginning with J.P. Antonacci and Alex Barnard of The Shrubberies, followed by the Dover Fishnettes. Norfolk Juice Co. is also providing complimentary fresh watermelon juice freezies at the corner of Harbour Street and Main Street while supplies last.
Closer to the intersection of St. George Street and Harbour Street, the Norfolk County Public Library will have kid-friendly activities and games throughout the afternoon.
Businesses and restaurants will be open and happy to welcome shoppers and diners as they check out the new enhanced street.
The event is sponsored by Norfolk County’s Economic Development and the Port Dover Board of Trade.
Ward 6 Councillor Adam Veri worked with Norfolk Juice Co. owner Lynsay Connell to plan the event.
“This hasn’t been an easy summer for some of the businesses on Harbour Street, or residents who visit the wharf and the pier,” Councillor Veri said.
“Norfolk County recognizes that Harbour Street is an extremely important area of Port Dover for residents and tourists, and I am looking forward to welcoming people back to see the finished road reconstruction and begin the next chapter along the waterfront,” Coun. Veri added.
