Pirate Midgets in Silver Stick Tournament

IMG_2747Just after Christmas, the Port Dover Pirates Midget hockey team participated in a Silver Stick qualifying tournament hosted in Wasaga Beach.
It is an invitation only tournament and the local squad played five games and won them all.
Port Dover Midget Pirates beat Creemore 2-0; Hagersville 4-1; Brock 4-1; Shelbourne 4-2 and in the finals beat Brock 6-3.
The team now advances to the next round — this weekend in Forest.
They will be playing against stronger teams for the North American Midget “C” Silver Stick bragging rights.
Port Dover plays Tweed and Wingham on Friday followed by a game against Glencoe on Saturday. The finals are played on Sunday.
Cheering on the local players will be a strong contingent of family, friends, and several former teammates from Port Dover.
