Emma Hunter
HUNTER, Emma Margaret (nee Carnes) – Passed away comfortably, with family by her side, at Norfolk General Hospital after 91 joyful years on Friday, June 24, 2016. Emma was born and lived her entire life in Norfolk County. She was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) Hunter, her brothers Jack and Ray Carnes and her son Douglas Graydon Hunter. She will be remembered for her outgoing, social nature and strong work ethic by her children Ann Clarke (late Elmer), Ray (Helena), Ed (late Joan), Russell (Deborah) and Ruth Murphy (late Roy).  Her 13 grandchildren will remember “Grandma Grunt” for being the life of the party and exceedingly proud of all their achievements. Her 22 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren will remember her loving and generous ways. She was the social hub of the family. Well-known in the community, Emma couldn’t go anywhere without running into a friend and having a chat. She worked for many years at the Norfolk Fruit Growers Association retiring in 1990 and was an active member of the Simcoe Seniors Centre. Slow to anger and quick to laugh, Emma was usually the last to leave a party and enjoyed Bingo and Casino trips. She was a fan of the Blue Jays, a good card game and making new friends. The family would like to thank the staff of the Dover Cliffs nursing home for their loving care over the past few years. Emma truly enjoyed her time there – even the food – and genuinely included the staff in her circle of friends. Emma found the positive in all situations, no matter what life brought her way. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 101 Chapman St. W., Port Dover, on Thursday, June 30, 2016 starting at 11 a.m. with a memorial service beginning at 12 Noon. Connie Lawton
LAWTON, Constance (nee Ashton) passed away peacefully on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Norfolk General Hospital in her 78th year. Loving wife of Robert, dear mother of Alan (Ann) of Holly Springs, NC, John of Loveland, CO and Steve (Kyoung) of Seoul, Korea. Cherished grandmother of Brittany, Zachary, Alex, Christine and Kaila. Great-grandmother of Isaiah. Sadly missed by her siblings David (Amy) Ashton of St. Catharines, Ronald (Ruth) Ashton of London, Kenneth (Peggy) Ashton of Calgary, George (Betty) Ashton of Courtland, Gladys (Truman) Rutherford of Brantford and Kathleen (Richard) Anderson also of Brantford. Also survived by her sisters-in-law Pat and Gail both of Brantford and brother-in-law Brian Sutcliffe of England. Predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Doreen, brothers Bill, Paul and John and sister Marion. Connie was a member of the Heather Club, a church Elder at Knox Presbyterian Church, an avid reader, she also loved to paint and was the chairman of the Elmer Lewis Parkette Project. She with her husband Robert were also former owners of the Clonmel Estate Bed and Breakfast. Sheila Macrae
MACRAE, Sheila Christina passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Norfolk General Hospital in her 89th year. Dear mother of John (June) Tweedie of Port Dover, loving grandmother of Christine (Steve) Anzik of St. Catharines, Colleen (Frank) Bieri of Fonthill and Glenn (Nicole) Tweedie of Port Dover. Proud great-grandmother of Evelyn, Gwen, Eden, Alec, Sawyer, Hannah and Liam. Predeceased by her parents Christopher and Christina, great-grandchild Avery, brother Alexander, sisters Morag Macrae and Jessie Whittit, sister-in-law Margaret and brother-in-law William Whittit. Sheila was an avid sports fan, playing baseball and bowling in her younger years and supporting the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs all her life. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her great-grandchildren. Donald Sandison
SANDISON, Donald (Sandy) of Brantford. Quietly passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at home. He has been a summer resident of Buck’s Park for over 45 years. He enjoyed his daily morning coffee at the Dairy Bar with the “Boys”. He leaves his daughters Denise and Debbie and their families. Friends will be received at Dennis Toll Funeral Home, 55 Charing Cross St., Brantford on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by a service in the Chapel. Janiece Buck
BUCK, Janiece Doris (nee Seller) – that toe tapper in the red army boots passed away peacefully, surrounded by those who loved and cherished her, at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Thursday, June 2, 2016 in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late Jack Buck (1988). Loving mother of Kevin Buck (Judy) of Port Dover, Mike Buck of Milton, the late David Buck (1976), Julie Buck (Maurie Danko) of Whitby, Janice Read (Wayne) of Niagara-on-the-lake, Jodie Buck of Whitby and Jay Buck of Port Dover. Cherished grandmother and great-grandmother of Taylor (Kaela); Trevor; David (Jenny), children Benjamin and Charlie; Matthew; Jordan; Jonas; Jackson; Jeffrey; Jacqueline, her son Avery; Jarryd and Jessica. Janiece will be lovingly remembered by her sister Joy Seller of Ancaster, by her sister-in-law Peggy Seller and by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased by her siblings June, Jack and Jene. Janiece will be remembered as a Registered Nurse at various hospitals in Ontario including the Norfolk General Hospital as well as working for many years at Sprucedale Training School. FOLLINGTON, Mary Jean (nee Bartlett) passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in her 80th year. Dear mother of Catherine Campbell of Port Colborne, loving grandmother of Jacob, Lyndsey and Kassandra. Fondly remembered by her brother Captain Leonard Bartlett. Predeceased by her husband Arthur and parents Ernest and Jean. Mary was a member of the Silver Lake Rebekah Lodge #150 for 40 years holding several offices including Past Noble Grand. She enjoyed gardening, was an avid Maple Leaf fan, doll and cookbook collector. Mary possessed a tremendous sense of humour and a wonderful smile. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. RUNDLE – Celebration of Life for John Philip Rundle (Port Dover) is planned for Sunday, June 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 50 Sunning-hill Drive in Port Dover. (Tributes are planned for 1 – 1:30 p.m.) John passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 2, 2016, in his 86th year. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Kathleen “Kay” (née Anderson), beloved sons and hunting companions, Philip (Lorreanne) and Keith (friend, Mia) granddaughter Jaime Lee (Robert Rezek), and great-grandson Nathan; John spent 34+ years with Ontario Provincial Police. TARVIT, William John “Bill” – Passed away peacefully at Highview Residences on Monday, May 30, 2016, in his 86th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Grace Marie (2006). Devoted father to Brian and Cathy Tarvit and Barb and Andy Stevens. He will be greatly missed by his sister Patricia Barker of Simcoe. Adored grandfather of Adam (Lindsay), Ryan (Jenna), Heather, Derek (Alex) and Brodie (Danielle). Great-grandfather to Cohen, Quinn, Grace and Harrison. Bill was a successful businessman at D. H. Howden & Co. for many years and owner of Westmount Pro Hardware before his retirement. He was also a longtime member of Highland Country Golf Club. The family would like to thank the amazing staff of Highview Residences for their care and compassion the past 4½ years. Private family interment has taken place at Woodland Cemetery.
