Jean Chambers
CHAMBERS, Mary “Jean” (nee Beickler) passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Norfolk Hospital Nursing home in her 99th year. Dear mother of Marie (Fred) Wilhelm of Sarnia and Suzanne (Paul) Greenslade of Port Dover. Fondly remembered by daughter-in-law Alice. Loving grandmother of Sharon (Ray) Labonte-Jaques, Susan, Sheila, Shelley (Jamie) Cable, Ric (Sally), Ron (Karen), Trish (Ken) Trinder, JC (Lori) Wilhelm, Carla (Todd) Wilhelm, Jill (Chris) Finbow and Mark Greenslade. Great-grandmother of 21 and great-great-grandmother of 5. Predeceased by her husband Clayton (1977), sons Ivan and Grant, daughter-in-law Val, great-grandson Braden, and sister Evelyn Laing. Jean loved to play cards and was a longtime member of the Port Dover Euchre League. She was a quilter, gardener and enjoyed going to the horse races with family and friends. Friends were invited to share their memories of Jean with family on Friday, July 17, 2015 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519-583-1530). A Funeral Service was held in Jean’s memory on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Grace United Church, corners of Chapman and St. George Streets. Rev. Jeffrey Smith officiant. Ginette Macaulay
MACAULAY, Ginette Marie (nee Bisson) passed away at home surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, July 19, 2015 in her 61st year. Loving wife of David of Port Dover, dear mother of Armand (Donna) Kuenzler and Kimberly (Chris) Veevers all of Kitchener. Proud grandmother of Ex, Emma, Hayden and Summer. Ginette will be fondly remembered by her siblings Don (Bobbi) Bisson, Patsy Broker (Bob Bolle), Bob (Kathy) Bisson all of Port Dover, Diane Shortt of Kitchener, Linda (Brooke) Snow of Port Ryerse and sister-in-law Kim of Guelph. Predeceased by her parents Armand and Suzanne and brother Claude. Ginette enjoyed fishing and going for a ride in the car, but most of all she loved her time spent with family. A Memorial Service to celebrate Ginette’s life will be on Friday, July 24, 2015 at Knox Presbyterian Church corners of St. George and Chapman Streets at 11 a.m. Rev. Cathy Kay officiating. Verna Watkinson
WATKINSON, Verna Marie (nee Fritsley) passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Dover Cliffs LTC in her 90th year. Loving mother of Richard (Jo-Anne) of Belleville, dear grandmother of Charles, Matthew, Lauren, Julie, Katye, Rebeka and Amanda. Great-grandmother of Sophie and Andrew. Fondly remembered by her sister Rita Hruden of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Predeceased by daughters Raye Ellen and Robin, brothers William, Jack and brother-in-law Walter Hruden. Verna had a passion for theatre and was an accomplished dancer who taught ballroom, as well as graced the stage in several local productions. She graduated from Mohawk College in Equestrian Studies and spent some enjoyable years running Doverston Stables and caring for her prized horses. Verna was an avid card player and enjoyed weekly gatherings with her friends at the Legion. She loved her family and the beautiful town she called home. In keeping with Verna’s wishes there will be a private gathering. Arrangements have been entrusted to Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519-583-1530). Sharon Dashnay
DASHNAY, Sharon Marion (nee Studer). April 14, 1946 – June 28, 2015. Born and raised in Capreol, ON. The family moved to Port Dover in 1979. Predeceased by her parents Jack and Amy Studer, younger brother Gary, son-in-law Chris, and in-laws Ed and Marion Dashnay. Sharon leaves behind her grieving husband of nearly 50 years, Tony; her children Carolyn Boehnert (Tim), Shawna Shepherd (Brad Murtland) all of Port Dover, Tony (Krissy) of Trenton, and daughter of her heart Tania Thomas of BC. She will be sorrowfully missed by her grandchildren Keilyn (Jake), Jordan (Megan), Connor (Zoe), Cassandra (Rico), Fiona, Madison, Hudson, Haylee (Olympia and Aurora), Mitchell; and great-grandson Benneit. Also left to mourn are sisters Linda Goddard (John) of Capreol and Nancy Thompson (Alan) of Wanup and their families; and a large extended family. Sharon was an avid gardener and a proud member of the Port Dover and Woodhouse Horticultural Society. A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at a later date in Capreol. A special thanks to the nursing home staff at Dover Cliffs for the excellent care Sharon received in her time there, as well as Dr. Robin Martin-Godelie for her care and compassion.

Elsie Wilson
WILSON, Elsie May (nee Gough) passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Norfolk General Hospital in her 85th year. Predeceased by her husband Bill (1995). Dear mother of Jane (Dave) Beckett of Simcoe and John (Annette) of Port Dover. Much loved grandmother of Jennifer (Alex), Sam, Anna and Hannah. Proud great-grandmother of Grace, Amelia, and McKinley. Predeceased by her parents Steven and Rachel Gough, brothers Edward (Rhea) and George (Irene). Fondly remembered by her nephew Randy Gough (Val) and niece Jill Warren (Scott) and by the Gaston, Kendrick and Beckett families. Elsie loved to work in her garden, adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her friends, and was the queen of special occasions. Friends are invited to meet with family and share their memories of Elsie on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519-583-1530). Following visitation a memorial service will be held in Elsie’s memory at 11 a.m. in the funeral home Chapel. Rev. Bill Sparling officiating.
