AKOT, Luis Normando of Port Dover passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Norfolk General Hospital in his 85th year. Loving husband of Elena, dear father of Elwyn (Leslie) of Courtice and Maria Beeson of Sparks MD. Proud grandfather of Matthew, Lindsay and Willem. Luis loved to travel and enjoyed fishing. He will be missed and always remembered. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, Lynn Park Ave., Port Dover. Allan Follington
FOLLINGTON, Allan “Al” (Silver Fox) of Wiarton, peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Grey Bruce Health Services, Wiarton on Monday, December 22, 2014. James Allan William Follington at the age of 78 years. Loving husband and best friend to Charlotte Anne (nee Knight) for 60 years. Cherished father to Cindy Follington (partner Larry Williamson) of Wiarton, Shayne (wife Wendy) of Point Clarke, and Joanne Ward (husband Bruce) of Wiarton. Devoted grandfather of Jennifer, Kasey, Aimee, Shayna, Taylor, Jodi Ann, and Nick; and great-grandfather of Rylan, Ava, Emerie, Owen, Tristan, Ella, and Laya. Brother of Donald Bartlett (wife Doris) of Port Dover; and brother-in-law of Deane (husband Everett Lampman) of Vittoria. Sadly missed by his sidekick Stanley. Predeceased by his parents John and Dorothy; and a dear grandson, Cody. In respect to Al’s wishes there will be no public visitation. To celebrate Al’s life, a public graveside service will be held in the spring at Stokes Bay Cemetery. Sylvie Zimba
ZIMBA, N. Sylvie Marie (nee Pilon) – surrounded by her loving family at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Thursday, January 22, 2015 in her 53rd year. Cherished wife of Joe Zimba of Port Dover. Beloved daughter of Vic and Gisele Pilon of Welland.  Loving mother of Joe Jr. (fiancée Brittney Groeneveld) of Simcoe, Jodi-Lynn Zimba (Kyle Van Paemel) and Kody Zimba, all of Port Dover and predeceased by an infant son Shawn. Sylvie will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Linda Biggley (Gord) of Dunnville, Mona Rouillard of Welland and Jacques Pilon (Dina) of London. Sylvie will be sadly missed by Joe’s family, his mother Elaine Miller (Willy Montgomery) of Port Dover, his siblings David Zimba (Tammy) of Smithville, Julie Cotter (John) of Dunnville, Francine Payne (Ted) of Port Dover and by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by her brother Danny Pilon and by Joe’s brother Christopher Zimba. Friends were invited to share their memories of Sylvie with her family at the Jason Smith Funeral Chapel, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe for visitation on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. A funeral mass was held from St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, 17 Lynn Park Ave., Port Dover on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jack Krull
KRULL, John Peter “Jack” of Port Dover passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday January 7, 2015 at Norfolk General Hospital in his 68th year. Jack is survived by his sister Barbara Harrison of Port Dover, nephews Rick (Moni) and David (Adrianne), niece Amanda (Michael), great-nephew Ben, great-niece Aubrey and sister-in law Teri. Predeceased by his parents David and Alice, brother Jim, and brother-in-law Darryl. Jack loved to do woodworking, in his earlier years was deeply involved with the Port Dover Scouts and an avid inventor in his own right. A funeral service was held for Jack on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519-583-1530). Father Kendall Reimer officiant. Robert Misner
MISNER, Robert Roy “Buzz” of Port Dover passed away at Dover Cliffs Nursing Home on Saturday, January 10, 2015 in his 91st year. Predeceased by his wife Muriel. Much loved father of Rick and Gary (Joan) both of Port Dover. Proud grandfather of Spencer (Lisa), James, Meghan (Ben), Amy (Nick), and great-granddaughter Lexi. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Florence Watkinson, Donald, Bertha and Thelma. Predeceased by his daughter Roberta, parents Henry and Olive, brothers Henry (Mildred), Elmer (Janet), Charles, Jack (Gen), sisters Margaret Misner, Laurel Ballantyne and brother-in-law Chuck Watkinson. Robert was known to many as Buzz, a lifetime resident of Port Dover who spent many years on the lake as a commercial fisherman. He was a longtime member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #158, had an avid interest in garden railroads and a dedicated volunteer at the Port Dover Harbour Museum. Friends were invited to share their memories of Buzz with family on Monday, January 12, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a Legion Service held at 6:30 p.m. at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519-583-1530). Matthew Boufford
BOUFFORD – Matthew Norval. Surrounded by his family at the Grand River Hospital Kitchener on December 31, 2014, Matthew Boufford of Kitchener in his 26th year. Beloved son of Norval and Pam Boufford and Ida Boufford and Shayne Logan. Cherished brother of Carina Boufford (Darren), Melissa Barber-Hong (Arty) and Jason Barber (Elissa). Dear grandson of Nancy Myers (the late Thomas) and Lois Gordon. Predeceased by his grandparents Robert and Jean Boufford. Matthew is also survived by his partner Donya Miri, several aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins. He was employed as a union carpenter at the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America from 2008 until the present. In his spare time he loved to cook, attend plants, music and fishing. FORD, Catherine “Elizabeth” (nee Shaw) of Port Dover passed away after a brief illness on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Norfolk General Hospital in her 78th year. Loving wife of Allan, dear mother of Raymond Stephens (Debbie) of Guelph, Richard Stephens (Caroline) of Cambridge and Michelle Eidt (Doug) of Cambridge. Proud grandmother of Noelle, Denise, Paul, Joshua, Rebecca, Brody, Brianna, Callum and Lauren. Adoring great-grandmother of Liliana and Olivia. Elizabeth had varied interests throughout her life; she loved music and playing the piano, enjoyed golfing, gardening and oil painting, was an avid trivia buff, and liked to collect stamps. She will be forever remembered by all that knew and loved her. Loving wife of Glen, dear mother of Richard (Jane) of Port Dover, Mary Ann (Keith) of Jarvis and Jeff (Heather) of Cavan. Devoted grandmother of Jason (Amanda), Melissa, Erin, Austin and Amy (Patrick). Proud great-grandmother of Korbyn, Taylor, Elizabeth, Maddison and Emily. Mary will be missed by her brother James (Susan) of Stayner and sister May Louise (Jack) of Kemptville. Mary enjoyed music but her true love was her family, she will be missed and remembered. REDMAN, Rosa Caroline: Passed away at Norfolk General Hospital on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 of Port Dover in her 85th year. Much beloved wife of John Redman. Loving step-mother of Julie Redman (Len Shipman) of Simcoe and Cynthia Redman (Kim Mistysyn) of Toronto. Cherished grandmother of Andrew Thompkins (Lindsay Maskell), Rebecca Thompkins (Justin Gilbert), Paul Shipman (Angela), William Mistysyn and Kyle Mistysyn, great-grandmother of Matthew, McCade, Jace, Spencer and Nathan. Also surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews. Rosa was predeceased by her parents in Belgium and was the last of her family.
